Appearance: murky ruby-brown with decent head and lacing

Smell: vinegar, oak, cherry, brown sugar

Taste: Slightly earthy, oak, tart cherries with pits, vinegar, brown sugar

Mouthfeel: medium-heavy body, medium carbonation

Overall: tasty, but I feel most of the darker wilds from this brewer tend to be slightly muddled.

Big thanks to mykie73 for sending this my way. Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a wine glass.

A- Pours a murky, amberish color. Fingers width of tan head that quickly fizzles away into a thin ring.

S- Lots of sour cherries and grape skins. There is a nice oak barrel presence along with a vinous, port-like quality. The aromas really go well together.

T- Simply fantastic! Lots of complexity going on here. Cherries and tannins abound with a strong, sour oak barrel presence. The port barrel aging added a nice vinous, sweetness to it. A little bit of lemon and citrus gave off the perfect amount of acidity.

M- Medium bodied with lots of carbonation. Semi-dry finish.

D- The sweetness of this beer really tamed the sourness, making this beer extremely drinkable. At nearly 9% abv, this beer is lethal. Putting away a 750 mL bottle is no easy feat for a sour, but is easily achievable with this one.

Overall, many have compared this to Consecration. Having it on tap just the other night, I have to concur. The only difference I noted was that this was a little sweeter and balanced, where as Consecration has a little bit more sourness. I also think the wine qualities came through little bit more in Consecration. Still, this is just as good, if not better.

750ml corked and caged bottle split between a pair of large snifters. Don't see a date anywhere, but the label says 2012 project.

Pours dark ruby-brown, little head, not much carbonation. Fairly opaque. Smell is very tart, very fruity -- blackberry or something similar.

Taste follows the smell. Fruity and very tart. More dark fruit.

Mouthfeel is mild and nice. Overall, good beer.

Poured into a Cascade glass.

A - Deep dark brownish read with some tan bubbles forming a nice ring around the edge. They linger the whole time.

S - Sour cherries, nice funk, but muted.

T - Here come sthe funk, sourness really is dominate.

D - Nice Carbonation, medium body.

O - This is your sour.

Date: 04/29/12
Type: 750ml. Bottle
Vintage: 2009
Glass: SH Large Tulip

Pours a brown mahoghany in color w/ ruby red hues w/ a thin 1/3 finger off-white head that left good lacing. Aromas of grape skins, vinegar, cocoa, and wet dog/wet socks. The flavor was mouth puckering sour cherry and grapoes up front, leading into vinegar, and finishing w/ mild cocoa and mild funky wet dog. Thin to medium bodied and lush due to adequate carbonation levels. Brew finishes pretty dry. Easy to drink if you can get past your teeth hurting after a glass.

Overall, nice brew from Cascade again! I thoroughly enjoyed the cocoa malt background in the finish of this wild ale.
