750ml bottle courtesy of Marcus. Thanks! I brought this to a nice little BA get together and it was cracked first, so this is a totally clean palate review!

The beer certainly is a "royal" shade of red. Some brown as well as orange highlights around the edges. The beer looks great in terms of color and has a white head at first, but the head dies quickly and there's little lace. Still, we're off to a great start!

The smell is heaven. Some lacto jumps out right off the bat, giving lemon and apple skin impressions. Then the cherries take over and add tartness while displaying both balance and some earthy depths. The oak from the barrel rounds out a solid nose. Think a fruity cherry sour almost bordering on Flanders territory but with less vinegar.

The taste continues the experience with great balance and depth. There's a nice sour note that makes me happy and gives me my fix without needing dental work due to enamel removal. Some brown sugar is also present in the taste, then the sweetness and sour fades into oak. There's some mild tannic tastes and just a hint of vanillin. This is just suculent and perhaps one of the best sours for a red wine drinker. That's the impression I'm left with, and this is a winner!

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with ample carbonation and a nice, dry, sour finish. This beer was heaven on earth! One of the better sours I've had recently and one I'm sure I'll never have again. That's OK, there will always be the memories :)

Thanks to thirdeye11 for sharing this bottle. It was part of a great tasting that included seven bottled Cascade sours.

The beer pours a murky brown color with a tan head. The aroma is dark fruit with some tart cherries. The flavor is oak, tartness and cherries. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Review from memory, beer shared with friends about a year ago. Very sour and refreshing, with notes of cherries, vinegar, oak and lambic funk. We had this beer between two imperial stouts, and it was an excellent decision.

Enjoyed on draft at Cascade, poured into a snifter. Pours a deep garnet red with two fingers of head and oily lacing. Loads of tart cherries in the nose and a bit of funk. The taste follows suit, much more tart than I expected from the nose. There's definitely some notes of vinegar present. Like most of their beers, the alcohol is very well hidden. Lot's of stuff happening with this funky little brew. I recommend you try this one for yourself and let us know what you think. Cheers!
