750mL bottle poured into a tulip. Pours an auburn-brown with an almost nonexistent head that rapidly fades leaving no lacing. Nose is Flanders-Red through and through - lactic acid funk, tart cranberry and sour cherry, with the slightest hint of oak. It's hard not to expect the balsalmic here, given just how truly akin to a Flanders Red this is, and perhaps a hint of that vinegar lingers on the backend. The palate follows the nose: sour cranberry and cherry, with clean lactic acid and oaky undertones. Mouthfeel lands squarely in the medium-thin category, and complements this beer tremendously. Overall, a masterfully crafted sour.

Flavour has lots going on; oak, funk, red grape, dark berries, some lactic flavours. Fairly sour and the finish is very dry. The red wine and port barrels certainly leave their mark. Full bodied with moderately high carbonation, leaves the mouth extremely dry. Alcohol is well hidden.

Pretty red color with some earth tones to it. 1/3" head quickly hits the bricks.

Aroma was an amazing wave of sour bing cherry, oak, lactic sourness, clean, no off notes, no alcohol noticeable, well done.

Taste just drops sour cherry and oak like its a lambic, its nowhere near as complex as that but it has a nice funk from the port barrels that brings out some complexity beyond your normal wild ale. Some red wine like notes dealing with the oak. Carbonation on point. I like a lot of Cascade beers, they aren't cheap, but this might be their best one they've ever made, just a phenomenal beer and the elite 1st tier level of American wild ales.

2012 Version

Very intense flavorful complex deep red sour. So much red wine barrel, fruit. Very balanced flavors but extremely aggressive. Paired well with a bone in ribeye. World class.
