On draught at Bailey's, served in a snifter, Cherry Gold Yeller is gold with a small off-white collar leaving scattered lace.

Smell is sweeter, a little honey, some sweat, faint fruit, a touch of wheat, wit like almost in that regard.

Taste is tart, green apple, raspberry, some honey, some chalkiness. Not overly sour by any stretch.

Mouthfeel is dry, lighter bodied.

Drinkability is fine, this is one of their more subtle sours.

I was pleasantly impressed by this one. Tart honey nose, ample fruity sourness on the palette. I disagree that it's too sour- I'm not sure what cherries were used, the beer is yellow and the fruit goes more towards green apple tartness than cherry kriekness. Good mouthfeel with ample carbonation. Served into a small snifter at Saraveza in Portland.

At the barrel house the other day. One of two beers they're currently pouring directly from the barrel.

The beer pours a bright gold color with very good head retention and considerable sticky lacing. The nose is very attractive in this beer, as I pick up considerable honey, vanilla and cherry, along with some noticeable raspberry sour funk. On the palate, the flavor profile is attractive, but still a bit of a disappointment based on the nose. The sour component really dominates, though I also pick up some nice vanilla and cherry as well (just wish there was more of it). Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, with a fairly long, smooth, sour finish. Drinkability is pretty good; this is yet another Cascade beer that hides it's alcohol very well (granted, it's only 7.5%, but this beer drinks like a 5% or 6% beer at most). My only complaint is that I think the sour component in this beer is a bit overpowering. A bit more cherry and honey flavor to balance out the sour would increase the enjoyabilty factor considerably in this beer (IMHO). Nevertheless, this is another solid effort from the folks at Cascade.
