Thanks to JealousChalice for sharing this one at mrbubbler's "end of the world" tasting.

Pours a clear dark red with a foamy reddish-white head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is solely of sour and tart cherry aromas. Taste is much the same with an earthy flavor and and acidic finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

Big thanks to boralyl for getting this out my way. Served in a Cascade goblet. Pours a very dark red, looking almost exactly like red wine. The nose similarly has a lot of red-wine-type character. Some tannins along with mild cherry. Flavor is earthy and slightly fruity. Very low carbonation, and only a moderate amount of acidity.

Darker red-red-amber pour with a bead of bubbles around the perimeter of the surface. Tart aroma, cherries, some vinous, acetic, and lactic qualities. More of this in the taste, sour/tart cherry, red wine, earthy barrel wood, leather, and some acetic acid, with some spicy yeast elements coming through. Pretty nice stuff from Cascade, as usual. Medium body, lower carbonation, and quite enjoyable for the style.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Reviewed from notes.

Appearance - Bright blood red. No head. Just a few stray bubbles.

Smell - Wow, cherries. Cherry pie sweet and tart aroma. Malty and kinda musty.

Taste - More sour, but it's mostly sour cherry sourness. Less sweet than the smell suggests. Musty and grainy malts more prominent. Sour, but it dies down with the malty sweetness.

Mouthfeel - Low carbonation. Medium heavy, even a little syrupy.

Overall - Excellent cherry flavor. If you're into the intense fruit beers, this is good stuff.

Opened at a tasting 1/26/2012.

Pours a very dark maroonish red, almost purple. Very pretty, looks like a blueberry beer.

Smells of dark fruit, some sweetness, not much acidity.

Lots of black cherry and other dark fruit, tart but not all that sour, the combination of mild fruity sweetness and mild tartness reminds me of an oud bruin. This is the least sour Cascade beer I've had but it's still very good.

Mouthfeel is decent, would prefer slightly more carbonation.

Overall a very nice beer, one of the fruitiest Cascade beers but also the least sour. Very different from the kriek for sure.
