Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.90%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Brilliant clarity, bright golden in color. Pamola Pours with a nice creamy head and subtle malt and hop aroma. Crisp, clean, effervescent start with a touch of malt character and a balanced bitterness. Hop flavors linger nicely. Finishes clean, crisp and dry with a light body. Pamola is brewed with pure, soft Maine water from Lake Auburn; three different hop varieties, plus domestic and imported “Character” malts provide complexity, color and body while making use of a clean, well attenuating, top-fermenting American ale yeast. The beer is then cold conditioned for a smooth, clean and crisp flavor. This one is extremely drinkable!

Seems like the top raters on BA like this, as do I. My favorite beer is DALES, AND THIS is the eastern seaboard, Ballentine SESSION edition of a APA, at < 5% ABV.

"Pamola is a legendary bird spirit, causing cold weather, that appears in Abenaki mythology around the Mt Katahdin region in Maine."

A. The beer is a deep, clear gold color, with a short off-white head that fades quickly and leaves only a bit of lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is too faint, but contains grain, fruity citrus, caramelized malts, and floral, grassy hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet, with flavors of citrus and caramel followed by brassy, grassy hops bitterness. It's well balanced classic, with plenty of malt base and hop bite. The after-taste is mix of bite, pretzel, and sweet.

M: Smooth and crisp, light-to-medium body and carbonation, finish is sticky, and satisfying.

O: Great APA. Yankee original. Try 6.

Not a standout. Less than average pale ale. I wouldn't buy again really no hop flavor or character

pours a shade darker than straw gold. close to gold with a solid white head and constant bubbles from carbonation. nucleated glasses really show that off.

smells like malt and hops, very plain aroma.

taste is clean, slight sweetness from the hops as well. goes down smooth, easy drinker for sure.

definitely not an "Xtra Pale Ale", its a small pale ale. if not for the full(er) body i would think it's a pale lager. a small yet clean pale ale. wouldn't search this out but good for a variety pack. the Baxter variety pack has been good so far
