Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.90%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Brilliant clarity, bright golden in color. Pamola Pours with a nice creamy head and subtle malt and hop aroma. Crisp, clean, effervescent start with a touch of malt character and a balanced bitterness. Hop flavors linger nicely. Finishes clean, crisp and dry with a light body. Pamola is brewed with pure, soft Maine water from Lake Auburn; three different hop varieties, plus domestic and imported “Character” malts provide complexity, color and body while making use of a clean, well attenuating, top-fermenting American ale yeast. The beer is then cold conditioned for a smooth, clean and crisp flavor. This one is extremely drinkable!

From the can, it was poured into a pint glass. It had a hazy golden, yet slightly orange body. The white head forms and fades within seconds. The lacing is ringy. The smell is grainy, slightly corn but sweet fruits and light hops. The taste has the grain again, however, I do notice some breadiness. Once again the fruit comes back with the hops. The palate has a light body with a high carbonation that is smooth. It finishes with a slight bitterness. Overall, this is good for me and the style.

4/14/17...clear gold, white foam, light bubble movement. Straw citrus nose. Lemons. Clean crisp citrus malt taste. Juicy. Clean crisp finish as well. Very simple, but nails the simplicity. Light bitter holds after.

Seems like the top raters on BA like this, as do I. My favorite beer is DALES, AND THIS is the eastern seaboard, Ballentine SESSION edition of a APA, at < 5% ABV.

"Pamola is a legendary bird spirit, causing cold weather, that appears in Abenaki mythology around the Mt Katahdin region in Maine."

A. The beer is a deep, clear gold color, with a short off-white head that fades quickly and leaves only a bit of lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is too faint, but contains grain, fruity citrus, caramelized malts, and floral, grassy hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet, with flavors of citrus and caramel followed by brassy, grassy hops bitterness. It's well balanced classic, with plenty of malt base and hop bite. The after-taste is mix of bite, pretzel, and sweet.

M: Smooth and crisp, light-to-medium body and carbonation, finish is sticky, and satisfying.

O: Great APA. Yankee original. Try 6.

Not a standout. Less than average pale ale. I wouldn't buy again really no hop flavor or character
