Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.90%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Bold, complex flavors with a solid malt backbone and assertive hop profile, along with cold conditioning, give this beer its crisp, clean, hoppy finish. Deep amber-to-orangish in color, Stowaway pours with a nice, creamy head; a huge hop aroma of citrus, pine and grapefruit notes; and a big, complex, and intense hop flavor from the 5 different hop varieties and double-dry-hopping procedure used in making this beer. The malt flavor up-front turns dry and crisp; Stowaway is full-bodied but with a dry finish and pleasant, long-lasting, hop aftertaste. This I.P.A. definitely leaves you wanting more.

Picked up a six pack near kennebunkport while in Maine for some beach time and camping and canoeing.

Poured into a rocks glass, nice off white head that dissipates quickly, color is dense amber.

Smell is big pine hops with solid caramel malt backbone.
Taste is resiny, strong pine hops, with citrusy notes tending to the grapefruit side. Solid mix of malt flavors, caramel, biscuit stick out.

Mouthfeel is a touch heavy on tongue, but finishes dry with good carbonation, bitter and sweetness

Overall, nicely done IPA, great packaging, another find Maine brew.

12 oz can into a pint.

a: Finger and a half of white semi-rocky, bubbly head. Clear amber body.

s: Resin, pine, grapefruit, hoppy finish.

t: Slight malt. Big hops. Doughy bread, citrus, pine. Hoppy aftertaste.

mf: Crisp. Dry.

o: I am not always a huge fan of IPAs but this beer is nicely balanced and smooth.
