Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of chocolate, some coffee. Taste is roasted malts, coffee, hops are present, hints of vanilla. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer, I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more during the winter.

Can to snifter, the appearance was a nice looking black color with a film of an eggshell white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Lace was somewhat there, sliding for the most part.
The aroma combined a wonderful blend of roasty to bitter chocolate malts playing with a nice glimmer of sweet vanilla spottiness.
The flavor leaned towards the roasty side at first and allowed the sweet side play out with some milk chocolate and vanilla. Starting to come through like marshmallow. Aftertaste was somewhat roasty, clean and a touch of the sweet vanilla.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a nice sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt good as well.
Overall, pretty nice foreign/stout, I'd have again.

DATE: December 15, 2016... OCCASION: Truly in the Christmas spirit after the LVR chorus/band concert, I toast their efforts with a winter welcomer... GLASSWARE: Samuel Smith pint... pours a fizzing three fingers of chunky, cratered brown head that sits atop a jet-black body... lacing is attractively etched in camo designs... a robust blast of cocoa begins the profile, with a toasted malt sense and peat that evokes scotch... some alcoholic phenols escape... the first sip scorches with heat at the throat, but softens to a warm, pleasant aftertaste... a cola consistency prevails, with an oily entrance and a milky end... cocoa, yes, and subtle vanilla, lactic hints of milk, peat and some earthy vegetable...the flavor profile is solid, not spectacular... creates a taut, enjoyable experience that is not as much of a punch as advertised...
