Right on the corner with a giant grilled cheese sandwich hanging over the sidewalk, this was a mythical destination for me for years. The place gets stupid crowded on any given day, including weekdays, so be prepared to wait if you're with a group--otherwise come on off-hours or by yourself and sneak by to the bar. However, even that is a questionable proposition because the way this particular Melt is laid out, those that are waiting for a table generally gravitate towards the bar and overcrowd it.

The sandwiches have consistently impressed over the years, never wavering in quality, and with very unique combinations that just happen to work, (and leave you with a huge doggy bag at the end of it all).

The beer selection is also impressive, making it obvious how the staff loves the American craft scene, as well as the European originals. They usually have a nice balanced selection of both.

This is my favorite place to go if I am looking for an excellent beer selection and great food.

a: Very cool place with unique decorations. Where can you find big plastic pumpkins, vampires, easter bunnies, and santa at one place in May? Melt! The menus are on old record covers too, and just a cool look as a whole.

q: Superb for both beer and food. This location has even more taps than the Lakewood location, but they do have some of the BMC on tap :'(

serv: decent, but a bit of a wait.

sel: superb beer selection, with many options for varietals.

food: Best grilled sandwiches I've ever had!

val: Very good for the price.

If you haven't been here and you are in Northeast Ohio for whatever reason, you should absolutely stop in!

a: Very cool place...a bit loud when i went and couldn't hear the people i was with, but I can't complain about that when everyone is having a good time. Nice decor for sure.

q: great quality. only tried a bit of the banana peanut butter sandwhich but it was very tasty for sure.

s: service was great. The bartenders knew their brews for sure and were willing to help you out constantly.

sel: amazing selection...though not as good as the one they had on their website. Nothing there was 'rare'...though their online listing had several. i know they are capable of it...but they for sure had a ton.

f: n/a...only sampled.

v: great value...go here if you're in the neighborhood.

Atmosphere - Very cool place at both locations. They play 80's movies such as the Goonies on several flat screens mounted around the bar and dining area. Also to add to the 80's vibe they have their menus printed on old Vinyl Record sleeves.

Quality - Very busy place. A normal wait time is an hour to two! You are welcome to seat yourself at the bar or the bar-rail (if any seats are available.)

Service - The servers/bartenders are not knowledgeable about the selection of alcoholic beverages at all(I come here about twice a week while home.)

Selection - Offers a lot of awesome beers at reasonable prices. The beer menu is larger than the actual food menu!

Food - Probably the best grilled cheeses you will find in the world! I have had all the meatless sandwiches available on the menu/or seasonally. The coleslaw and fries are amazing as well.
The Dessert Menu is short but sweet, it offers cheesecake and my personal favorite Deep Fried Twinkies w/ Raspberry dipping sauce.

Value - The beer and food is very reasonable, I spend normally an average of $35 for two sandwiches and two ($7) beers.

I love this place, the second Melt location on the east side of Cleveland. Great alternative atmosphere, with some pretty random but cool decorations. The service is generally friendly, not super knowledgeable about beer, but pretty prompt and nice. Selection is good, with 20 taps (with decent beers) and about 100 or so bottles to choose from. Food is great if you're looking for big greasy grilled cheese sandwiches (which I typically am). Not too expensive at all, one of the better deals I've gotten there was Avery Maharaja on tap, 12 oz. pour, for $3.75. Not all of the deals are that good, but still an affordable place.
