Pours a jet black color with no tints at all. A very small, light tan head is created at the pour.
Smell is very nice on this stout. Scents of chocolate, cocoa, and a good vanilla as well. Very balanced smell of all things stout.
Taste is quite nice. Very dark roasted taste to it from nice charred malts. A good oatmeal taste, too. As it warms a nice hop taste emerges.
Mouthfeel is a little thin and slightly chewy.
Drinkability is nice on this stout. Very nice tastes in this stout and a good balance doesn't overwhelm the palate. I am very impressed by this offering from Ohio Brewing. Definitely grab one of these if you get the chance up in Northeast Ohio.

A very average stout... WAY over carbonated, took what seemed to be an eternity to pour it. Has an ok coffee taste. Too light of a feel gonna stout. Funky aftertaste. I'd skip this one~

Beer #4 8/9/13
This beer is a dark brown with a sort of flattish look to it, as a weak sort of light brown head fizzles out quickly and doesn't leave a whole lot to speak of. It's not completely vapid, but it's fairly uninspiring.
The nose is actually unusual and pretty pleasant, the majot factor being smoked nuts. There's a definite roastiness, and it may be that the malts are more heavily smoked than most stouts, or the combination of malts roasted. The nuttiness is very strong as well, though. It's also bready with a touch of bittersweet cocoa.
The taste follows suit with the toasted nuts and the bittersweet element, but it can't match the nose. That and a tangy note in the finish drop it a bit.
Nothing stands out in the feel. It's not flat, but it's far from lively. It's not particularly smooth, either, and it kind of ekes out a weak finish.

Much thanks to my friend Richard for bringing me this brew.
A: Dark black in body, with a deep ruby hue when held to the light. Nice light head on top that slowly sinks into the center of the beer.
S: Bready with dark chocolate. There is a nice dry roasted character from the dark grain. Perhaps a touch of black licorice. Nice overall.
T: Malty, with a nice dry finish. Dark bitter chocolate and roasted malts dominate the flavor. A touch of sweetness in the finish.
M: Medium in body, there is a nice milky texture to the feel of it, but the finish is certainly dry, with a touch of tannin.
O: Overall I really like it. Simple, well put together, and it doesn;t try to be anything it isn't. Just a nice stout.
