I tried this beer at the Pie Factory in Florence, Alabama. It poured a clear amber with huge white head that left some lace. The scent was sour as heck. The taste was sour tart....terrible. the Mouthfeel was lighter in body with huge carbonation. Overall this beer was not good....either the bottle was bad or this should have been characterized as a sour....not adding up.

A malt bomb for me. Nice color and maybe this was better when it was fresher (no bottling date though) but no longer. I think the recipe needs a little tweaking to tone down the sugar and malt and up the bitterness to make this a little more drinkable.

Pours out to a thin non-lasting head and amber color. Aroma is clean sweet malt and no discernible hops. Ditto for the flavor.-- lots of biscuit, toasted malt and caramel. Mouthfeel is light. Overall a malt-oriented, easy drinking crossover beer. Typical of southern breweries desperate to sell beer without scaring away the masses with hops. the beer looks bland and boring and it is but is is not particularly bad, either.

Thanks to Jim for this one!
Poured into a fluted tulip glass, there's about a finger of foam and a sunset orange into dark amber hue. Minimal lacing, lasting retention.

Aroma of husky grains and toasted malt sweetness. Cereal grains and brown sugar.

Taste is malt forward and toasty with a light bitterness in the aftertaste to counter the light sweetness. Mild earthy hop spice in the aftertaste also. Medium bodied but light and drinkable. Overall this a solid amber ale.

The 12 ounce bottle pours amber with a huge huge head. It doesn't last, but sure is foamy for a minute or so.

Aroma is a bit of caramel. The taste is caramel , malty, with quite a bit of hops.

Overall, it's a better than average amber.

Good beer. I like the malt - sweet and smooth. A slightly above average Amber. I mean slightly. Good drinkability.

Had locally in WOB in Birmingham in Oct. 2026 while on business trip. Had in flight with other local beers. It stood its ground.

Pours a medium amber color.
Faint malt smell. Not much there.
Taste is a moderate caramel malt with s lightly bitter, earthy aftertaste.
Mild for an amber but in a good way.

BLUE PANTS AMERICAN AMBER 4/6/16

Another in the new shipment from a beer club.

Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into an English nonick.

a: Clear copper or dark amber with a finger thick white head which receded to wispy surface foam and spotty lacing.

s: Caramel malt.

t: Follows the nose with some moderate hop bite. Anise notes develop as it warms.

m: Medium, good body and surprisingly, quite a lot of carbonation tingle.

o: A good amber with flavor and substance. Sessionably drinkable and better than the rather bland semi-generic label might suggest.

S: almost no smell, strange
T: delicious start of rye and caramel with a smokey dark chocolate finish
F: smooth with little carbonation
I: yummy and delicious but still looking for the 5

This is one that I've waited to rate, because it seemed to changed every time I tried it. It is a very nice AAA with a good malt profile. Not too bitter and well balanced. I'd prefer more hop aroma, but that's just me!
Overall a very drinkable AAA and one that I keep in the fridge at home.
