A: Darkish brown, 1 inch head on gentle pour.

S: Sweet Chocolate and Light peanut.

T: light chocolate, I'm not getting any peanut. Not s lot going on here
and somewhat disappointing.

F: Carbonation. Wow, due to the amount of carbonation, this beer is really filling.
Too much carbonation in my opinion.

O: I'm glad I got the chance to try, but many better stouts out there.

12 oz can, from belly-up Blue Pants Brewery, now being brewed and canned via contract by Lazy Magnolia. Not sure if it has changed the nature of this beer or not.
No canning date.
Pint glass.

Big deep black pour with a brown head of 1/2 finger, leaving spots of lacing.

Aroma of spiced banana and fig cake, raisins, cinnamon, and caramel.

Flavor is practically prune juice with caramel sauce. Not a whole lot that's redeeming here. Caramel and sugar builds on the palate like a Twix Bar, and I suppose that's the candy bar aspect, but it really fails as a pastry stout.

Feel is medium bodied with quite a bit of stickiness, well-hid alcohol, and a sticky finish with slight roast.

Overall an underwhelming beer, not quite the monster I thought it'd be. Back when BP was doing their own stuff, the Coffee+Milk Pinstripe was pretty dang solid. This is a different thing entirely.

Price paid : $10.99 / 4 pack
Would buy again : no

On hearing that Blue Pants has, unfortunately, closed, I discovered I had never entered my review of this beer, which I had a couple of times In 2017 and 2018 poured from a 12-oz. can into a tumbler and then a faceted mug.

Pours (poured) decently black with a light-tan head, soon gone. Aroma was overwhelmingly chocolate, as was the flavor, with a bitter finish.

From a can. Pitch black color with tan head. Smells of chocolate. Medium feel with high carbonation. Sweet malt, brown sugar, and chocolate flavors. Would be a great dessert beer!

From a can at the 2018 Decatur Beer Fest.
Pours with a clear dark reddish-brown body topped with a very good tan head.
Sweet, appealing aroma with a lot of caramel
The flavor is bittersweet and has good harmony and complexity.
Medium+ body with medium carbonation.

Looks good black anak bat or kahki head. Aroma lots of dry coco powder and anise don't get sweet candy bar. Taste is about the same dry coco powder, since dark fruits, anise, not really sweet a little astringent. Mouhfeel is medium and dry. Overall not a great stout, maybe I just had an off batch as it's rated good anyway.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is pitch black with a medium sized tan head. The aroma is sweet malt and toffee. The taste follows the nose with a healthy dose of carbonation.

Poured from bottle to a pint. Dark black with light tan 1" head that hung around. Sweet smell, with a slightly sour hint. Pretty carbonated, but I kinda like that. First few tastes were a little odd, but 1/4 way through I really started to enjoy it. Very sweet, I felt like I was picking up a fruity note too... cherry maybe? Anyways, I enjoyed it.

A - Pitch black pour with a thick and frothy off white caramel colored lacing and foamy. Foam sticks on the sides of the glass like gooey cotton-candy.

S - Sweet cocoa and creme aroma.

T - Follows the nose with sweet cocoa and creme from start to finish and a lingering delicate bittersweet. Finish is candy-like,

M - Over carbonated for the style which gives this fuller bodied beer a lighter "airier" mouthfeel. Really falls short in this category. Coats the mouth with a layer of candy cocoa.

O - The best aspect of this beer is the ABV is completely hidden.
