BEER INFO

Brewed by:
Blue Pants Brewery
Alabama, United States | website

Style: American Amber / Red Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our flagship beer brings the Irish Red into the 21st Century of American Beer. We started with a solid Irish Red as a base, and blended it with some of the concepts that make American beer great. This beer is bigger, richer, and more flavor packed than its inspiration. It’s rich and malty flavor is balanced out with an American hoppy taste.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Spectacular showing of head and lacing on top of this reddish brown brew. Very sweet and fruity nose with a thick layer of toffee and some booziness. Creamy thick medium body, some smoothness. Toasty sweetness, faint buttery tone, and alcohol are dominant on the palate. There is a sturdy hop profile and bitterness but the sweetness and alcohol seem to lay down harder.

Decent drinking.

Over all I would rate this as a great beer but it could use a little more head and a little more carbonation. The appearance is a cloudy reddish brown that looked more like a brown ale than a red ale. There was a nice balanced complexed flavor of toasted malt with a slight hops taste. This beer would complement any meal or be equally good by itself. I would order this beer again just for the sheer enjoyment of drinking it. A very good beer from a small start-up brewery in Northern Alabama.

Over carbonated with phenolic aroma and flavor. Seems like there is a lot of variability based on reviews.

12 ounce bottle -> New Belgium globe

A - deep amber red with a towering overflowing head. Retention is awesome and lacing is among some of the most elaborate I have ever seen.

S - earthy, grass, bread, grainy

T - big caramel malt backbone with a bitter finish that is a bit unexpected. Otherwise this is a typical amber ale.

M - loaded with carbonation, bit of an aftertaste

O - pretty good, but there are better amber ales. In general I am a big Blue Pants fan so I would buy this again.
