A: dark color, caramelized

S: brown sugar, caramel and alcohol

T: Starts with a slight roasty taste (like strong porter beer) and gets a spicy flavor (hope), finishes with caramelized and strong alcoholic taste.

M: Medium bodied with slight carbonation and smooth

O: Complex beer, belgium style (like St Bernardus abt 12 that you should try to compare) but quite different in the way that it looks more like a strong american Porter: some additional hopy taste and a little bit of roasty taste that the Belgium beers do not have. However, it has a strong alcoholic taste that makes the beer not well balanced (this explains why I gave it 4/5 and no more), but I'm sure in several years the beer will get better. I'm happy to tried this beer and I would try it again because I like the hoppiness that we do not have in Europe for such a beer. It makes it a unique American belgium style beer.

Pours a khaki, two-finger head that fades quickly leaving traces of lace. Almost opaque brown color. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied. Dark fruit and sugar nose, flavor is similar, dry finish. High ABV is hidden. Not cheap at $14.50 for a 22oz bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me.

A: Pours a very dark mahogany color with a fingers worth of head that fades down to a thin cap

S: Lots of dried dark fruits, molasses, dates, and a nice Belgian influence from the yeast and some unfermented candi sugar. Very complex and interesting

T: Starts off with the dried dark fruits (cherries, raisins, plums) and Belgian yeast along with the dryness from the candi sugar. Get a light bitterness from some anise and molasses, followed by a mellowed sweetness that comes with the alcohol. Finishes with some drying alcohol and some lingering dried fruit

M: Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Quite dry, but pretty smooth

O: A very nice American-style quad from a brewer who is new to Belgian styles in general. Quite drinkable for 10.1%, but it is extremely complex so definitely a sipper. Good-great now, but I can see this getting even better with some age. Definitely worth picking up a couple bottles

Made to commemorate Sebago's 1000th batch.

Pours a dark muddy brown, very thin head which fades fast, not much lacing.

Smell starts with a hint of cocoa nibs and moves into a banana-ish aroma , the Belgian candied sugar has a decent whiff and a touch of alcohol hints the nose finally, decent malt backing such that no aroma overpowers the other.

Taste starts out fairly mild at first, the candied sugar hitting first with the sweetness, the banana comes into playing having a stronger presence than before, burn hits the back of the throat to show this isn't afraid to throw a punch, carbonation is low and soft but more than adequate to prove it's there and not flat.

A bit uneven in places, I think a year or so on a bottle may do wonders to smooth over the alcohol burn and maybe give it a chance to increase the carbonation a touch, definitely glad I grabbed an extra to hide away.
