A hazy, golden Wit Beer, with a smallish white head. The smell is reminiscent of banana, and possibly apple. At first the flavor has a hint of clove, then it tastes somewhat watery, with a citrus finish. In my mouth it is smooth and firm. Overall, there is a dullness to this beer especially when comparing to beers of similar style (I tried Limburgse Witte just before tasting this).

Appearance – Clear orange in color with no carbonation and no head. This looks more like an Abbey Trippel than a Wit.

Smell – The very sharp coriander spicing comes out in the nose along with a hint of wheat.

Taste – The puckering, bitter orange peel is here in force. The wheat is there if you look around for it. This one is tart as a Sweet Tart.

Mouthfeel – The lack of carbonation was disappointing for a bier of this style. I expected a light, fluffy, bubbling ale and this one is flat as a pancake.

Drinkability – This was a mixed bag. I thought the orange flavor was fabulous, but it missed the mark on so many other points. It was fun to drink, though, and I’d probably buy again.

Comments – My bottle didn’t have a front label on it (as other BAs have noted). Strange.

I think this is a really solid little wheat beer, more German than Belgian, but it does have an added spice to it. Lightish, yeasty banana notes, slightly sweet, dry-ish finish, a tasty brew from NZ.

poured cloudy with some quite impressive levels of sediment left behind in the bottle. And the taste? hmmmm tarty, quite high carbonation, contary to many of the other reviewers my head is lasting quite a long time. or am i just drinking it fast? I am still unfortunately not well tasted enough to say much more than that it tastes like what it says it it is - a wheat beer. Luckily for me these beers are relatively cheap here, unfortunately for me the overseas originals are not.

This is a nice light and cloudy brew thats a light yellow copper color. It has a large head that doesn't fade. There is hardly any aroma except for a light maltiness. It has a nice mellow and lightly fruit taste followed by a slight hop flavor. The taste is somewhat yeasty and has a little sweetness. But it leaves the mouth clear with no aftertaste.

This beers pours a hazy golden with a smallish white head a firm yet smooth mouthfeel. The smell is sort of bubblegum like with intermingled clove. The taste was at first a sharp effervescent citrus followed by a faint clove. This really is a decent beer but seems a bland when compared to some of its Belgian brethren.

The beer pours a somewhat obscure golden orange color, sub-standard head that dissipates quickly leaving almost no lace to speak of. Nose is citrus, light wheat and yeast tones, my description is earthy. Front is sweet, the top skinny, the finish bitingly acidic, sparsely hopped, dry, quite crisp and clean tasting, but overall a bit on the “Thin” side for me.

Hazy light gold-Orangeish color with blackish hurricane effect after pouring bottom sediment / a low white head. Orange citrus aroma with spicy tones. Nice orange citrus flavor with crisp spicy finish. Light bodied but leans medium.

Great balance of citrus and spices.

Yellow-orange and hazy. Lots of sediment if you're not gentle with the bottle. Thin white head that lingered. Citrus and spice on the nose, same on the tongue w/ a very crisp/sharp finish. Somewhat dry. It seems spiced more-so than a lot of wheet beers but it holds it well, doesn't seem artificial or offensive. I found it was about the right thickness, wasn't thin IMO.

This beer poured a very murky off orange color and formed a very small white bubbly head that left little lace as it subsided. Some carbonation is present, as well as sediment. An aroma of coriander, citrus, mostly orange, and some wheat/yeast elements peak throught it. The flavor was tart of orange, wheat and yeast as well. A bit tart/sprite in the finish. Not a bad wit, but not outstanding either.

Is my review somewhat skewed because I just had a very heavy beer? Maybe. But this was a very welcome change.

11.2 fluid ounces of deep golden beauty. Rosey tints in the dark center of the glass. Crisp fuzzy head, alternating patches of thickness. Ripe floral aroma, hints of grain and fruit. Wonderfully sunny apple and malt taste, clean, dry finish. Palate is cleansed, leave for the tart ring on the tongue.

Slightly hazy, old gold colored body. Pours to a 2-finger thick head, but doesn't last more than a couple of minutes. Smell of banana, moderately spicy, with plenty of musty yeast. Flavor is a bit weak, but certainly not unpleasant. Crisp flavor, slightly grainy with some fruity and yeasty flavors peaking out every now and then. Light bodied, slightly rough mouthfeel. A bit watery, really. Not a bad beer, pretty easy drinking and refreshing. Just not really very interesting.

This beer does not look bad, but I had to take off points because I belive that a wit should be lighter in color than this beer is. It has a nice orange aroma. The body is a little full a too sweet for the style, but it has a nice spicy citrus flavor that tastes almost like orange juice. It has a bready yeastiness that lingers.

Pours clear smoked amber until the lees are added (instructions appear on the bottle). With the lees the beer is very clouded and is a gray orange color like scrumpy or unfiltered cider. The color and clarity are are not nearly as polished and bright as a more traditional witbier.

Limburg starts out highly energized with small champagne-like bubbles that soon taper and nearly cease. The aroma is pleasantly sour with citrus notes. The flavor fails to live up to the expectations suggested by the smell however, and the body is near flaccid and never achieves its intended aspirations.

This is a worthy effort but fails to replicate the grandeur of the original Belgian wits.

Sampled from a ~12oz bottle at the Falcons Xmas in July Tasting.

Aroma is horsey and lemony butter with a lemongrass and coriander finish.

The beer is a dark yellow and very clear for a white beer with a low white crispy head that quickly disappears.

The flavor is crisp and sour with a soft wheat character. Finish is somewhat tangy and sour as well.
