Opaque coffee color, creamy persistent head; Chocolaty aroma; Rich and mild flavor; smooth, flat, not carbonated; Not bad but I prefer more carbonation. Better than Guinness.

14.9 oz nitro widget can into a Irish pub pint. Nutty and slightly roasty aroma; hints of mineral. Deep, dark, ruby color with a thick light tan creamy, very creamy head that just does not recede (well, it does, but very slowly). Thin, smooth mouth feel, bolstered by the thick head. Nutty flavor, a little coffee, but bitter throughout (initial, middle, finish). The bitterness fades fairly quickly in the aftertaste. The overall flavor is thin; not a lot there and not much perception of thickness / smoothness from the nitro. Compared to the Guinness, it is more bitter and it could also use more contribution from the malts, and the mineral tinge in the aroma and taste is just a bit detracting from the overall. I'm surprised that I prefer the Guinness.

Pours a dark brown color that is more ruby colored around the edges. Thick velvet tan head dissipates a tad but never less than a full half-inch of foam.

Aroma has some notes of roasted malts – not much else. The aroma is actually disappointingly subdued.

Taste has notes of roasted malts, bitter bakers chocolate, slight tobacco notes, and a bit of dark fruit. There is a definite hop bitterness on the finish. Bitterness lingers on the paalatte and builds as you consume it. Also, these flavors definitely taste watered down.

Feel is pretty smooth. Carbonation is mild but prickly. Semi-dry finish. Light to medium bodied.

Overall this is solid, but with a lackluster aroma and a more simplistic flavor, its not as good as some of the other options out there.

14.9 oz can bb August 2018 poured into a tulip pint glass at fridge temp, no ABV listed on can. The beer pours dark brown with red highlights and tight, nitrogen altered, medium brown head. The head maintains throughout the session at 1/8" and leaves a little lacing. The aroma is faint with chocolate and coffee plus a fairly strong smell of chewing tobacco. The taste is strong with the Red Man chew flavor hitting hard up front. There is some roasty, ashy, dry bitterness on the back end that is smoothed out somewhat by the nitro creaminess. As the beer warms, the baker's chocolate comes through more and the beer tastes better. Mouthfeel is medium to thin bodied and uniquely nitro in feel. Overall, very good for style. It's just not my style, although it improves in taste as it warms.

A- This pours a silky motor oil color, with a superbly creamy nitro head.....love the cascading effect before it goes light brown and then into the expected dark blackish/brown. The head itself is like meringue and is light tan in color....it lasts throughout the duration of the drinking experience. Carbonation is hard to see of course, but the lacing is splendid, with rings and foamy artwork being created at every taste! A very nice looking Stout!

S- Creamy black and chocolate malts, coffee creme, hints of vanilla.....roasted vanilla, milky chocolate, muted char and/or smoke, and a slightly bitter finish on the nostrils.

T- Super creamy coffee, with sweet Italian cream, vanilla, mocha chocolate, slightly smoked dark chocolate, bittering black malts and and traditional dry finish on the back of the palate that lingers until the next taste.

M/O- Again, this is very creamy, super smooth carbonation and a medium-full bodied stout that to me is the best of the big 3. I keep coming back to this since I've found it in my neck of the woods....it reminds me of my visit to Ireland where I first was able to try it out! So tasty on its' own or will work well with a meal. Definitely recommended and I'll always have a soft spot for this wonderful Stout!

Ruby-tinted mahogany brown with a creamy, tan head that lasts the pint and leaves thick sheets of lacing.

Roasted malts, coffee and a little chocolate in the nose. These continue to the taste, accompanied by a touch of cream and smoke. It has a semi-dry finish.

Medium bodied with a relatively still feel. Very easy drinking. A fine example of the style.

Compared to the much more popular Guinness, this offering is slightly drier and has a somewhat more robust flavor. The nose is rather unimpressive but there is a faint hint of smoke that comes through a bit (but not much) stronger in the flavor profile.

Poured from a can. Pours a beautiful dark brown with a thick, cream colored head. Smells of coffee, roasted malts, slight smoke, and chocolate. Taste is malt, dark chocolate, with a nice bitter finish. Body is almost watery but that bitterness brings a body to it. Smooth, easy and pleasant to drink. I think it's that bitterness that Guinness draught lacks which sets this apart from the two, it feels more like a complete beer.
