a style i adore, and after digging their cornbread one, i was keen to try this. 2017 bottle too, so plenty of time on it, not sure if that helps or hurts a style like this, but it seems like some definite tartness has developed through the sturdy spicy earthy grain base. this was super complex for a low alcohol beer like this, and really incredible, like liquid bread, it almost makes the point of the style for it, like i feel nourished after drinking this, amazing. golden color, clear at first but hazier as we work towards the bottom of the bottle, short and short lived white head, but nice bottle conditioning once again from these guys. the nose is slightly oxidized, lemony tart, but also a little muted, earthy and raw, kind of simple, but so obviously jester king on the ferment. the flavor is then even more of a surprise because it pops, literally liquid bread, rye specifically to me, the dark almost burnt crust and all, its the essence of a good loaf, just a little stale in the right way, even some bread yeast character to this. i swear i can even taste the bread being wood fired or something, maybe a pizza deck, that sort of deep high carbon thing, still wheaty too, maybe some pils malt in this, tons of funk, very mature in the bottle now, expert carbonation and conditioning, just a little acidity as well, but its flattering to the breadiness. i like how light this still drinks despite hearty flavors, i like the low alochol, and the rye spice. its wonderfully composed, unique with the wild yeast, uncommon in the style. top notch take on kvass here, memorable even!

Notes from share. Drank side by side with Scratch Kvass.

Cloudy yellow with good carb and little head. Light funk and tartness with breadiness. Very light sour with a bread balancing it out. Somewhat thin, not much carb. I could easily put down the whole bottle.

Not as bread-y as some I’ve had but there. Good semi-tart saison with that bread flavor

A:The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head.
S: Light to moderate aromas of sourness are present in the nose.
T: The beer is a little sour and has notes of funk and hints of yeast.
M: It feels a bit more than light-bodied and slightly tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I found this kvass to be rather interesting compared to other beers in the style, particularly with its tartness and funkiness.

Pours a foggy to murky orange, pending what portion of the bottle is poured into the glass. Head is a finger and a half of fluffy, off-white foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is cellar, stone, biscuity, earthy, bready, rye malts with a grainy quality at the back. Little grass and flower at the back. Flavor profile carries forward the same notes, with a rye, bready, earthy, nutty malt coming through strong. In addition to the bready qualities is, toffee, grass, flower and cellar stone. On the onset of the bottle had a lightly sour twinge to it that fades a touch as the beer warms. Mouth feel is thin with a still, silky smoothness that comes with just a touch of silty grain to it. Overall, an intriguing loaf of bread with a little zest to it. It's light and refreshing.

Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 750mL bottle.
