Bière De LenoirBière De Lenoir
Notes: Bière de Lenoir is a blend of barrel aged beer brewed with Hill Country well water, malted and raw grains from our friends at Blacklands Malt, fresh and aged hops, and fermented with our mixed culture of brewers yeast and native yeast and bacteria. It matured in oak barrels for eight to fourteen months before blending and refermention with Lenoir grapes (also known as Black Spanish) from Torre di Pietra Winery in Fredericksburg, Texas. It was packaged in bottles and kegs on October 24th, 2016 and is 100% naturally refermented, unfiltered, and unpasteurized. At the time of bottling, Bière de Lenoir was 6.9% alcohol by volume, 1.002 specific gravity (0.5 degrees Plato), 11 IBU, and 3.4 pH.

Bottle share. Murky ruby colored body. Tart, funky aroma. Sweet fruit. Light fruitiness, sour, yeast, funk, nice sharp pucker. Mellow taste lightly grows in strength.

Mesmerizing dark garnet, uniformly glossy and semi-clear, with a soft but thin off-white pink collar.

Smell is uniquely herbal and spicy, almost like gin but more down to earth, with a little char, black pepper and plenty of dark wine grapes that are paired with a light, woody, nutty funk.

Smooth, medium round with a slight crispness and a tingly, semi dry swallow, this delivers flavors of delicious, almost gummy dark grapes along with unique accents of herbs and spices. A hint of black raspberry runs with the grapes as some dark charred oak brings with it a moderate strength malic acidity.

Pours a grape jelly color, light purple foam, no lacing. Nose complex funk and wine. Taste brings the wine character of the grape forward alongside the funky, cheesy taste from the bugs. Average body and below average carbonation

Courtesy of Dennis - thanks, bruv!

OG vintage.

Jammy red wine. Fruit preserves. Subtle acidity. Perfect sweetness. Ideal balance. Extremely harmonious. Tastes like a gestalt whole.

Remarkable work from Jester King.

Simply fantastic.

High B+ (3.70) / VERY GOOD

500ml bottle, served in a snifter glass. Pours a dark purple body, slight reddish brown hue, one finger white head, fair retention, no lacing. Smell is grape skin, a bit of tannin, oak and a mild-moderate acetic acidity, mineral. Flavour follows for the most part, tannins and grape flavours, a bit of vanilla and oak, mild-moderate vinegar, mineral and a bit of funk. Dry and mildly tannic. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, good carbonation, nice tannic finish.

Had on tap at the release in February 2017. Great ruby color and intense grape smell, almost like a wine. Taste is intense grapes, honestly if this was not carbonated your could convince someone that this was a wine. A really nice creation by the guys at JK, excited to see how this ages in the bottle and I hope they make it again.
