2021 vintage, one of the more sort of trendy beers ive seen these guys do, and not because it is trendy, but because of all the tropical fruit, cantaloupe, strawberry, banana, coconut, guava, and chamomile too, so strange a combination, not sure why they thought that up, but the beer is clever, unique, and predictably well executed from these guys. not sure why i expected more color on the pour, maybe its the label, but this is just pale yellow to straw colored beer, unremarkable in the glass really, a short white head and clearish most of the way. it smells like banana, really and truly, more real than i think i have ever known in a beer, and its cool with the coconut, which to me is the next most forward element and definitely toasted, sweet, and warming in here. the jester king funk brings out the strawberry sweetness a little too, melon and guava a little harder to find in aroma and flavor too, but there is an obvious tropical character through this whole thing. notable absences are mango and passion fruit, i dig them being left out! the banana flavor is good, not quite as forward as in the nose, and the strawberries somehow make it pop, a classic combination. the coconut brings the malt up a little bit, and maybe this is a tad more grainy than it needs to be, not all that light to drink for what it is, but its close. the banana lingers the longest too which is cool, pushed forward by some obvious sweetness from the melon, i pick up citrus nuance late too, could be the lemony bacterial tang of their house culture. the coconut makes this almost sexy, i love its presence here both with and against the fruit. good carbonation, relatively dry finish, light funkiness and even saison ester notes to the ferment, not too much acidity at all. real cool bottle, thanks to my buddy for sharing. definitely a little unexpected from these guys, but i suppose we should expect the unexpected from them by now...

750 ml bottle.

Pours a lightly cloudy amber color with 2 fingers of frothy white head. The head isn't going anywhere because it is being reinforced by the most bubbles I have ever seen in a beer. It's like a freakin' water jet in a jacuzzi. One of the best looking beers I've seen in a long time.

Strawberry and banana dominate the aroma up front. There's a bit of lime, chamomile, and guava with subtle hints of coconut shavings, melon, and grass. Lightly funky and grainy throughout.

The flavor is surprisingly sour, but it's more like a fruity sour instead of brett or lactic acid tartness. Lots of strawberries, lemon and lime, and overripe melon. There's some very subtle coconut and banana on the finish.

The feel is medium bodied with very lively carbonation. Sharp and crisp, and exceedingly dry.

Overall, this one is all over the place. Can this really be considered a farmhouse ale? Perhaps more of a fruited sour? Regardless, the flavors come exactly as advertised and it's a fruity, tart, drinkable beer.

750ml bottled 2021 June. Opened 10-8-21.
1 finger white head with good retention, holds steady at a solid cap.
Bright, glowing golden body with nice clarity. Slippery, spotty lacing.
Floral and lightly funky nose with banana being the addition that stands out the most.
Sour melon, some banana and a little tart strawberry in the bracing fruit filled sip.
Light body, bright mouthfeel with medium-high carbonation. Medium acidity - nice pucker/mouth water. Quick and dry finish.
Very Good.

It is brewed with barley, wheat, oats, cantaloupe, guava, banana, strawberry, toasted coconut, and chamomille, hops of course.

Look: golden with a thick white head

Aroma: fruits, coconut and chamomille

Flavor: The flavor is very fruity, and moderately tart. I think I can taste cantaloupe, banana, strawberry, coconut and chamomille.

Body/Overall: medium body, it's a delicious fruit compote and a nice surprise, delicious

On tap at the new Big Owl Craft Brew House in Houston.

A: Pours slightly hazy. A yellow color, with a small white head that forms. That fizzles out to nothing quickly, and just spotty lace left behind.
S: An acidic fruit aroma up front. Not much else. The fruit is all muddled, I guess banana and melon...sure I'll go with that.
T: Like the nose, all the fruit is just muddled. I can't pick anything out, I guess a mix of canteloupe, guava, banana, strawberry if thats what they say. Though if becomes very sticky and sweet. A hard candy like sweetness takes over which makes this cloying.
M/O: A medium body and moderate carbonation. A sticky, resin, sugary candy coating covers the tongue. OK to drink, in that generic store bought fruit juice kind of way. Though not at all what I'm looking for in the style.

The delicate balance that I love for the style is nowhere to be seen here. Its just a muddled fruity sickly sweet mess. Which I can't really pick out any of the individual fruit additives, but thats got to be what I'm tasting right? Jester King is very hit and miss with me, and this is a definite miss.

I had this on tap at the Jester King Brewery and I will say in short that this is a world class saison. The added flavors of coconut, lime and camomile blend seamlessly into the flavor of this light highly drinkable beer. I really didn’t taste mango. I was surprised how good this was with just a little bit of tartness and enough flavor and substance to make the beer one of the best saisons I’ve ever consumed.

Had on tap at Pkwy Tavern-Summerlin, Las Vegas, NV.

Looks more like a NEIPA than saison. Strong spice aromas, not much malt or yeast, but spices are fresh and inviting. Dominated by something exotic I can’t place—chamomile? Flavors are tart and focused on the same spices. Not much else going on. Thinnish body with moderate carbonation. Hops bitterness is augmented by slight tartness and a bit of astringency, apparently from spices. Jester King is one of my favorite producers and I love their unusual, funky beers, but this one misses the mark for me. This is not an outstanding beer to me, but it is still refreshing and drinkable and different.
