8 oz. poured from bottle into tulip at the brewery

L: murky dark yellow/gold with white head of foam, keeps tight collar

S: kumquats, candied lemon, yeast, musty barn, old funky hops

T: earthy yeast, lemon peel, little bit of citrus fruit sweetness and almost thin layer of biscuit malt

F: soft middleweight, delicate but with a nice heft

O: lovely beer, full of Jester King flavor with a nice soft mouthfeel; lemon peel flavor is as good as it gets

A very hazy, bright apricot hue nears opaque and is topped with a moderate, foamy white head that uniformly settles to a creamy light blanket, lifting at the edges in ridges. Retention is low.

Smell is citric, bright and lemony with light, bright peppery oak and apricot spritzed with orange and white grape. As this boisterous, zippy and sense-awakening aroma warms, a minimal, round woody funk arises. Aside from that, it damn near smells like a New England-style IPA, but much more complex.

Taste is pleasantly tart, popping with notes of apricot and white and red grape with yellow apple and a slight, bright peppery oak that blooms with time. It's simple yet infinitely complex, with a moderately bitter finish of orange rind.

Body is light to medium with a medium to full froth and a semi-dry finish. A very deft touch here has developed excellent balance, perfect tartness and light acidity, making for a very drinkable Saison.

Courtesy of Collins:

Oak barrel, leather, brettanomyces funkiness, 2-row sweetness, milky notes toward the finish, cereal grains, subtle twang. Mild acidity.

Clean funkiness runs throughout. Subtle vanillin.

Balanced and harmonious. The soft mouthfeel is a highlight.

Bottle. White head. Golden orange. Vibrant.

Farmhouse notes all around. Funky and yeasty. Light sour/tart. Smooth. Easy drinking. Very barnyardy with some Brett in the the finish. Lighter flavored.

Smell improves as liquid warms. Heavy farmhouse, barn, funk smell.

Refreshing. Well made.
