Collaboration with Mikkeller

A flavorful, hoppy wheat beer, Drink’in the Sunbelt is the result of the first of two collaborations between Jester King and Mikkeller, the renowned Danish “gypsy brewer”. It takes its inspiration from another light, hoppy, sessionable wheat beer that Mikkeller had previously made, called “Drink’in the Sun”.

JK has brought in an updated version of their collab with Mikkeller

hazy yellow mellow gold pours with a bubbly champagne white head with low retention that fades to absolute no-cap

smells of tangerine, pineapple, and peach with blotches of pine and a heavy heavy dose of wheat and funk
taste follows the nose straight up; tastes citrus and funk and cracked spice and dash of pine hop.

high carbonation, medium-light smooth body.

overall:
while not my favorite entry for the brewery, it was an easy and enjoyable sipper

well, the bad news is that this bottle is way past its prime, a year or two old, beer under 4% abv just doesnt hold up all that well, and this one certainly hasn't, especially the hop forward ones like i am sure this was meant to be. the color is a really thick cloudy muted beige yellow, not real attractive, but the head is tall and white and lasting. a slight citrus to the nose, but it basically smells like nothing. not stale or oxidized, which is good, its not gone off, its just faded into oblivion. the wheat malt is frothy though, and the feel is great, really flush in body and well carbonated. extremely dry too. the problem is that it has no taste, so so bland. this was obviously a session hop brew, and the hops are just gone. probably should not have been held so long, but still stoked to try anything from either of these breweries. i see where they were going with it, and have to encourage them to do it again, because the world needs more beers for hot weather, but this is decayed beyond recognition and is essentially useless in its current form. as refreshing as cold water.
