Interesting can I picked up last summer in Detroit. It looks a bit like a wine, it has some tasty additions and is moderately tart. something with a mixed fermentation twang.

Alright, this one is out there. I may have come across one other beer that utilizes beets as an adjunct, but in conjunction with coffee in a spontaneously fermented beer takes it to a whole new level. I trust Jester King to properly execute this wild idea. Let’s crack it open and see what it’s all about
Pours a cloudy pale red with 2 fingers of frothy pinkish white head that fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing
Unsurprisingly this is extremely earthy in the nose, the beets are front and center. I’m picking up on aromas of raw beet, crackery malt, white wine vinegar, apple cider, acidic coffee, lemon juice, wet hay, and stone
Oh wow, in taste this gets really interesting with a sharp tartness up front followed by a complex earthiness that lingers for quite a while. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting blueberry skin, crackery malt, lemon zest, wildflower honey, light roast coffee, crabapple, light beet, and wet hay. The swallow brings notes of cooked beet, black cherry, acidic coffee, crackery malt, wet hay, raw grain, apple cider vinegar, stone, and blueberry skin
A medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes a tad sticky but dries out over time
This one is wholly unique and super fun. I knew Jester King had it in them to do something this weird
