Labelled as brewed in March 2015. A much different beer than what I expected it to be. More within the sour side than a farmhouse, hop driven ale. Tart, funky, has that feel at times that there are little to no hops present but that this is more a vessel for the wild yeasts. Dry, carbonated and citrus forward.

Bottle from Whole Foods - Lamar. Batch #17 04.01.2015. Pours out pale cloudy golden color with huge airy head. Spots of sediment for the white head. Yeasty, funky tartness in both aroma and taste. Not sure if it's the age or not, but coming off sour, not too bad, but more tart than your normal farmhouse ale. But it's Jester King...more yeasty funk on the finish.

Tried on cask, poured into a snifter.

Pours a golden light orange, a little hazy. Big frothy head, big bubbled with excellent retention.

Smell is funky citrus, lemon zest and orange peel. Smells of bandaids and earthy yeast. Some subtle green apple skins and white grapes.

Taste is green apples, bananas and cloves meshed with that barnyard funkiness and estery tartness. No hops or alcohol presence whatsoever.

Mouthfeel is very low carbonated, thanks to cask and a very easy and refreshing drinker.

Poured into a Duvel tulip. Label says 03.31.2015

A- Pours a semi-hazy light golden color with a full two fingers' worth of white head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves large clots behind.

S- Very floral aroma with some strange plastic-y funk.

T- Somewhat tart flavor with more of that plastic-like funkiness. There's also a soapy quality that's not all that pleasant. Tangy and dry. Hops are pretty much all gone due to the age of the bottle.

M- A bit sharp from the medium-high carbonation and a light body.

O- Didn't realize this was over a year old. I had read the date before buying when a couple of these randomly landed at my local store courtesy of Shelton Brothers and I was thinking it said 2016. Pretty lame that these were dumped in our market when the beer is obviously far past its prime since it's supposed to be hoppy. Thanks a bunch Shelton Brothers...

Pours gold, a little bit pale straw, with white head. Some mild cheese funk on the nose. Perhaps some stone fruits. It actually smells pretty good. There's some pear and grassy hoppy character. The finish is a little metallic. Overall, it's a little disappointing.

The top of the bottle is very lime-green color, with a bubbly head that dissipates quickly. At the end of the bottle, the color is murky and yellow-green, like orange juice.

I smell lemon grass and floral notes. Some of that yeast comes through as well.

I really like the taste. There is pear, apple, light hops, earth, brett, and hay. It's a nice crispy farmhouse ale. More faintly, I get orange juice, lemon rind, and funk.

The mouth on this is great - bubbly like champagne, and yet a little more thick. When it warms it gets juicier.

Overall, I like this beer a lot. This is one of the better farmhouse ales I've tried, and I love the unfiltered and unpasteurized ingredients in this beer.
