There are moments in our lives that we simply cannot explain: times when we transcend our natural limitations and stand face to face with the boundlessness of the universe, where we see a first glimpse of our own unbounded potential, and suddenly know how to defeat a race of evil, intergalactic, time-traveling cyborgs with a single roll of duct tape.

Jester King is an authentic farmhouse brewery located in the beautiful Hill Country on the outskirts of Austin, Texas. We make farmhouse ales and spontaneously fermented beers tied to a time, place, and people.

3/31/23 Visited on our trip in the Hill Country.

We were here on a Friday early afternoon just as they opened. No lines or waiting at this point. Had the classico pizza (yum!) and 4 beers and a cocktail between the two of us.

Plenty of seating and space to roam. Quite the experience... Reminded me of West Coast beer gardens.

My trip to Texas included this place. I fell in love with Jester King when they decided to brew a beer with Mushrooms. I have several beers still in queue for the review table. After a short hike at one of the parks near this place, I venture to the brewery. This place is enormous. One of the best experiences for me at a brewery. They had two places to get beer, both areas had different offerings. I took a brewery tour, and that were a lot of interesting facts. We went with, was an old employee, so I go further inside information and how the brewery operated. The place is several acres, with a walking path, a pizza shop, a playground for kids and adults, and covered and shady picnic areas. The atmosphere was inviting with loads of friendly faces. Clean restrooms, Lots of beer options. I will be visiting again. It is easy to spend an entire day here and then finish your night at Salt Lick. Great brewery with fabulous beer.

An incredible drinking experience, the loose and fun environment is underpinned by products that are well built and on-point, and food that complements the beers. I wish I had something like this near me, but to be fair, Jester King is a rare spot, with only a few places I've been that are similar. Whenever I am back to Austin, I'll be finding a way to return to Jester King.

What more can I say about Jester King that needs to be said? This place is an experience, from the farmhouse-style seating, to the pizzas and salads, to the goat farm. Yes, goat farm! They’ve come a long way since opening with a small tap room and barstool seats. Worth the drive, and worth the visit.

One of a kind but just too busy. So many people that it takes the farm feel and turns it into a Disney attraction. People and service was great and the beer top notch! I just wish I could have experienced it back in the day before it got to hip!

I wanted to try some of Jester King's famous wild ales. Unfortunately, there was only a single wild ale on tap, which I didn't order, because the description didn't appeal to me. I sampled a variety of saisons, which were only of average quality. On the positive side, the site is truly lovely and worth a visit if you're in the area.

I would throw 5 across the board but want to leave room for absolute perfection.

this place is splendid. world-class selection and quality, easy and down to earth vibe + goats (it's a farm, y'all).
service was quick, well communicated, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and considerate.
super big bonus points for managing all of that during a pandemic.

if you are coming to Austin, and you want a truly weird and funky and unique brew experience, this is the one to choose. there are so many great breweries in this area, but this one transcends to something entirely different thanks to the location and overall vibe.

once in a blue moon, you may even luck out on a day that they happen to have gotten a Cantillon order or some such unexpected miracle.

Ann experience like no other. Brewery is on a farm and spread out, with multiple bars. People with their kids, pets, you name it. Very chill atmosphere. Service was great as they explain the beers, food, and anything else you need. They sell bottles to go (rare for Texas breweries).

Styles are centric to saisons, wilds, and sours. All were really good. Certainly a unique place to visit.

Sprawling farm location set well outside of Austin. On site, there are 4 different bars, each with various taps and bottle pours available. A small merch stand offers up bottles to-go, along with other Jester King merchandise. Seating is dispersed throughout the facility, with a large, open air canopy covering perhaps half the seating. Other picnic tables are sprawled out between the two sets of bars, all of which are in open air. There is a good amount of shade available for a little cooler drinking temperature. Staff service and friendliness varied widely. Some were down right rude, and others were very pleased to help. Fortunately, the average seemed to at least be enjoying what they did, making it a fair experience for the consumer. Selection is, as one may suspect, focused on Jester King beers - which are a bit odd styled for most. Standard IPAs, stouts, wheats, etc. may be available via the guest tap lists, but even those tend to be focused on the same styles Jester King is known for producing. For this reason, it did not please the other people in my party, otherwise as someone who enjoys saisons, wilds and sour ales - it's a sublime spot to stop and enjoy a few brews.

JK is an experience, more so than a place (perhaps part of this feeling is that today is St Patty's Day) but this is one sprawling, massive beer mecca. 3 service bars at different spots, 100s of picnic tables... open, airy, and crowded. Maybe 10 of their own beers on tap, plus guest taps and wine. (Why anyone would drink wine here when there are so many wine-like excellent beers is beyond me) plus bottles a d cans to go. Friendly server, food, pizza and I think some sort of truck, live music under the tent... the 3 beers I had were very nice to exceptional. Great time.

I like this place, but don't really get the hype. Every time I have been here, it has been packed and long lines for beer. The beer is good but very expensive. If you are in the area, definitely have to stop. Would not make it a destination myself.

Went on a rainy Saturday. Beers were awesome, grounds were beautiful and the Brewhouse tour was informative and intimate.

Overall had a great time but was glad the inclimate weather kept the crowd down. After speaking with some of the employees I get the impression things get a little crowded on a typical Saturday.

Finally made it to JK. Unsure what to expect but had a great time. Walking the Hill Country grounds between the 3 differently stocked bars and a happy crowd was really cool. JK team was consistently knowledgeable; friendly and helpful. Had more than a few good Beer talks, and learned a lot. One special moment was when being told a beer I had requested had just “kicked”... another staff person said “hold on” and went back up to main building and returned hand delivering me a snifter full of the beer. Way cool.
Had time only for about an hour or so, but could have spent the wholeday.
Great place, great beer and great Beer. Can’t wait to go back

The best brewery location I have visited. Lots of parking for the lofty ranch-turned brewery. Multiple pour locations was helpful in easing the crowded line that led into the main bar area. There was plenty of seating throughout multiple portions of the acreage, including standalone tables, a converted barn which boasts a pizza maker, and lots of a land to wonder while you sip! Overall large selection of their beers with the primary focus on farmhouse and sour ales. Highly Recommended.

what can you say about this place, except for that its totally a destination brewery, and that they are hands down making some of the finest beers in the land, and by in the land i mean in the world. i have wanted to come here forever and finally got the chance. it was a gorgeous sunny day with a pleasant breeze blowing through, i could not imagine more perfect weather to set the scene here. its a bit of a drive from austin proper, but a pretty enough one, and you pull in a rather rural space, more of a compound than a single space, with a lager barn looking structure that is the brewery and main bar, but then also an outside bar with a different beer list, and a couple of lower bars with different lists still, more of a beer hall setup down there. they have a wood fired pizza kitchen on site, a bottle and merch to go area, some live music set up, and patches of pretty shade trees with picnic tables underneath them. the whole thing is idyllic and serene and as rustic and charming as i hoped it would be, time just flew by here. the service was solid for just how many people were here. its all spread out enough that it never felt busy, but there had to be a few hundred people on the property! the beers speak for themselves, but it was cool to find some special and uncommon ones here like spon variants and a cool collaboration with fonta flora, among others. all wild, all interesting, all inspired, just so awesome, one could theoretically sit here and drink forever and never get bored. we were greeted warmly upon arrival, they even have parking attendants! i didnt do the tour, couldnt tear myself away from the heady beer list, but now i have a reason to go back. the whole experience was just fantastic. the pizza was great, the beers were world class, they even have some cool guest bottles for there and to go, and it was well worth the effort required to visit this place. i have always loved them, but our trip here cemented jester king as one of my absolute favorites. do not miss a chance to go here!

Bucket list destination! Expansive area with multiple seating areas, games and bars. Each bar has the same core beers and some variation. To go beer is in a separate spot and everyone is super helpful (they have 12 bottle shippers!). The beers are amazing and its soo relaxing that it makes you forget its 105 degrees outside...

Had a great time! A bit apprehensive going in, and missed the turnoff the first time past, but the staff helps you get things figured out fast. Excellent pizza available on site - I recommend this as well.

Very laid back, kids seem to have as great a time as the adults, dog friendly too. Beer selection is great! Even if the funky farmhouse ales aren’t your thing, there are guests beers that are also excellent.

If you get the chance, go, even better if you can go when the weather is cool - all outside. Very hot in June when I was there.

It is hard to say any bad things about this location. The facility itself, which is a bit off the beaten path, is gorgeous. Just a huge outdoor space with shaded and sunny picnic-style seating. So many families, kids, dogs floating around for a very friendly environment. Super friendly staff. Nice variety and selection within the farmhouse and sour styles of beer, if that is your thing, and usually a handful of unique offerings, ingredient wise, on the menu as well. An absolute must hit if you are anywhere near the Austin area.
