Our award winning 2x4s cousin. The * double ipa uses copious amounts of mosaic hops that give this beer strong notes of tropical fruit, stone fruit, mango and berries. Brewed with a blend of Great western 2-row, light crystal, mosaic hops and some top secret stuff.

16oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy trails of foam. It smelled of toasted caramel, orange, grapefruit and resin. Sweet fruity taste with citrus and a sharp, piney bitterness.

Almost impossible to get in my area without two friends who live in Wyoming that take pity on me and bring some to Florida. Asterisk is a VERY nice Dbl IPA. It is very likely if this beer was readily available to me in Florida a few would always be in my beer fridge. For my tastes this is a must have brew.

This review combines multiple consistent recent experiences with Asterisk poured on tap and from cans
A: Gorgeous light golden color outlined by silky white lacing
S: Citrus, melon and hops build great expectations
T: Taste follows the nose. Alcohol very well hidden. Agree with other reviews that first smell and taste create anticipation of a NE but quickly evolves into a wonderful WCDIPA style powerhouse
O: Nectar of the gods. Time to book a trip to Wyoming.

Pouring from a 12 oz. can into a snifter glass. This beer pours a straw shade of gold with lemon highlights. Hazy, but not completely murky. Forms a pinky width of tight, off white colored crown with nice retention. Some spotty lacing throughout.
The smell is melon mixing with citrus notes. Some floral on the backend.
The taste brings bright notes of melon, citrus notes of tangerine, orange. Finishes with cracker like notes on the backend.
The mouthfeel is wet and sticky enough for me to like it and not fall under the truly hazy category for me. But it does have a nice cracker like dry presence as well that seems to balance it out really nicely. Slightly tangy. Alcohol present but not overwhelming.

L: Hazy amber color, half finger quickly dissipating head, ok lacing, light carbonation.
S: Tropical fruits, hops.
T: Tropical fruits, hops. ok, but nothing super special.
F: Medium bodied, nicely flavored.
O: It'k ok but nothing I will look of again.

A: The beer is very hazy amber yellow in color. It poured with a half finger high light beige head that left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of mangos and other tropical fruits are present in the nose along with hints of caramel.
T: The taste has flavors of papayas and mangos along with underlying hints of caramel malts. There is a light amount of bitterness and faint amounts of alcohol.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There is a little crispness to the mouthfeel.
O: The smell and taste of this beer do a good job at showcasing the tropical fruit hops. It wasn't too difficult to drink for an Imperial IPA.

Almost clear golden color with light beige head. Aroma has quite intense resiny hop notes with tangerine rind on top. Taste follows with really resiny, earthy and leafy hops with bittersweet flavors. Medium body and carbonation. The slightly harsh bitterness makes it more drinkable, hiding the alcohol quite well.

12 oz. can.
ASX 27
Canned 10/05/18.
Moderate pour yields a 3/4 inch white head over a bright amber body with some sticky lacing. Nose of tropical fruit, some pine, and a bit of citrus. Taste of tropical fruit, sweet citrus, and pine with a citrus pith/pine resin bitterness on the finish. As it warms the malt comes forward and asserts itself. Nice feel and overall, it starts out smelling a bit like New England and quickly turns into a WCDIPA. I really like the brightness of this beer. Good job from Wyoming. Cheers!
