Notes: Our award winning 2x4s cousin. The * double ipa uses copious amounts of mosaic hops that give this beer strong notes of tropical fruit, stone fruit, mango and berries. Brewed with a blend of Great western 2-row, light crystal, mosaic hops and some top secret stuff.

Poured on draught at Backcountry Pizza. Wow, this beer is simply incredible. The melon and peach smell off the head is simply exquisite. The color is beautiful. The taste is a beautiful blend between west and east styles of IPA, like a Mountain IPA should be. If you told me there was no alcohol in this beer, I'd believe you. Simply awesome beer.

Here's the deal: I'm not even going to summarize any element of this beer. It's the best goddamn double IPA I've ever had. Drink it and experience it for yourself. No one else's descriptors will hold a candle to it. Well done, Melvin. Thank you for existing.

I cannot get enough of this beer. Whenever I see it at a beer store or supermarket, I am tempted to pick up a can. It's dankness and Mosaic flavor profile overwhelms me each time.

Asterisk pours a hazy dark-golden color. It has a nice fluffy white head.

Its aroma is full of a dank hop essence. There are also notable hints of citrus and tropical fruits on the nose as well as a bit of a thin malt pull.

Flavor is full of mango and citrus (notable hints of tart lemon balance out the sweet tropical fruit taste). There is also a bit of an astringent hop bitterness that makes for a bit of a pucker effect at the end of the swallow. The beer also has a decent malt backbone to go along with its impressive hop profile.

Moderate carbonation goes along with a bit of bite. A full-flavored and potent feel.

I'll end this review in the same way that it began, by saying that I love this beer. When fresh (and that's the only way I've had it) it is a force to be reckoned with. Pick one up and enjoy it if you like hoppy, flavorful DIPAs.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a half finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of lightly caramel malt, tropical fruit, dank with a little bit of green onion. Flavor follows with pale malt with a little caramel, mango, pineapple, orange citrus, dank and piney hops, finishes with nice resinous pine hops. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A very well balanced imperial IPA, with great fruit and hop flavors, leaning very much in the tropical fruit and pine direction with surprisingly little citrus. The malt feels quite substantial, but has little flavor influence; supports the hops very nicely from the background. An excellent, flavorful imperial IPA, good from start to lingering finish.

Reminded me a lot of Hopslam. Lots of hops, some sweetness reminiscent of honey, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, incredible lacing from the huge head, and a good price point. A great DIPA.

Clear, golden body capped with a sticky, foamy, white head; fine carbonation bubbles with a slow rise. Soft, sweet, fruity aroma; lemon and pine resin. Sweet, juicy flavor, similar to the aroma; bread crust; bold yet balanced hop bitterness; smidgen of alcohol on the taste buds. Medium-heavy body; juicy and wet, ending in a rather dry finish.

This is another outstanding offering from Melvin's. It delivers huge, deep, complex and balanced flavors with a nice alcohol kick without being exceedingly heavy-handed in taste and mouthfeel. Frank Zappa's album cover phrase from "Burnt Weeny Sandwich" captures this beer perfectly: "God! This Is A Tasty Little Sucker!"...
