Hubert? I’ve heard of him. A friend of a friend knows him. Apparently he’s awesome, but we’ve never met. Well. It’s about time you did. Most you connoisseurs would just call him an IPA, but we call him an MPA. The Melvin Pale Ale. A welcomed hand shake to your taste buds. Light, crisp, fresh and a little bitty bitter. Lets just say he won’t be that jerk that leaves you at the bar at 2am. He’s low in alcohol. What a nice guy… that Hubert.

This is my favorite flavor profile in pale ales but this one is really good, Left Hands tastes like this but that one is harder to get through, this is still fresh and bright

09/09/20 stamped on bottom rim of can. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.
A: Clear light amber with 1-2 fingers of frothy off-white head with good retention and craggy lacing.
S: Malty aroma with honeysuckle hop character. Mostly light candied caramel.
T: Flavor is also dominated by light, medium caramel maltiness with herbal honeysuckle hops qualities and flash or grapefruit mid-palate. Clean without significant esters. Medium bitterness. Very old school APA and not in the best way.
M: Slightly tacky from the caramel character but light-medium body and pretty dry finish.
O: This Melvin APA is a shadow of its former self is my estimation with sweet caramel forward impression due to age. A pity.

Poured from the can, into a nonic(k) pint glass.
A real nice orange bronze color, quite a bit hazy with touches of lemon shiny yellow edges. Real fluffy topped bright white head, standing like layer cake of three fingers, with some real sheets of lacing.
Soft hop aroma, of light herbal tea, mixing with a light touch of juicy orange hop citrus as well. Hits with soft malted caramel and almost a vanilla like aroma of sweetness too. Very nice.
Palate sticks to basic. Brew comes out almost English like in style, with tea like aromas in the mid palate and light caramel, finishing with more of a spicy and light astringent aftertaste of pine and resin. Soft bitterness for contrast, with pleasant orange flavors that are subtle and nice.
Real good solid pale ale. Seems like a mix of English and American hop qualities, but either way it's a good ride.
