Notes / Commercial Description:
Hubert? I’ve heard of him. A friend of a friend knows him. Apparently he’s awesome, but we’ve never met. Well. It’s about time you did. Most you connoisseurs would just call him an IPA, but we call him an MPA. The Melvin Pale Ale. A welcomed hand shake to your taste buds. Light, crisp, fresh and a little bitty bitter. Lets just say he won’t be that jerk that leaves you at the bar at 2am. He’s low in alcohol. What a nice guy… that Hubert.

12 oz. Can

Pours a very nice slightlly hazy golden orange color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice two-finger thick/creamy white head, which leaves a few thick/creamy islands and sticky lacing behind. The nose is pretty hoppy, and citrusy, with some pine notes. The taste is pretty freakn' awesome for a APA, but it should be an IPA, but........, very nice hoppyness, very nice citrus, with some pine notes, still APA or IPA, I really never get the pineyness in most of those styles, not until hitting the 9% ABV DIPAs, for the most part. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, their is also some chewyness to this brew, not common in a APA or IPA. Overall, fuckn' surprised my ass. Very Nice! Highly Recommended! I remember Bitterbill telling me of this place many moons ago, and I always remembered it as Thai Me Up, did not know about the Melvin part. Almost wanted to visit this place when still in Utah. Glad I bought a sixer.

Had it on tap in D.C.

L: Dark golden in the glass, lots of bubbles with a white head

S: Strong on citrus, passion fruit, grapefruit, and pine. I really loved the smell on this beer. It smelled fruity and tropical, earthy, and complex.

T: Tasted citrusy, but less than the smell. A good fruity citrus front with a piney middle and dry bitter finish. The malt was present throughout, but not overpowering. Tasted very refreshing and light, very drinkable for an IPA.

O: Loved it. It was complex, clean, light, and refreshing. Each sip would bring some new flavors and elements, and I didn't want the glass to end!

Holy crap, so much candied pineapple and other tropical fruit in the nose. Amazing. Taste follows with a little zesty bitterness. Fucking awesome, drink this if you can.

Wow! This one was a surprise. This is a simply beautiful pale ale. This is truly a world class pale ale that should be spoken in the same breath as PseudoSue and Zombie Dust. This is sure to be an everyday drinker that will likely always have a place in my fridge.

This might be the closest that Coloradans are going to get to having Zombie Dust at their local liquor stores (now that Melvin distributes here). It isn't quite there IMO but pretty dang close to quality and flavor profile. Orange, Grapefruit and a bit of pine bursting forth from a light crackery sweetness. Finishes bitter and dry, actually more bitter than many IPA's. This blows away nearly every APA that I have had and I would actually take this over most IPA's. I will consistently be bringing this back to the mountains from my occasional trips to Denver.

Poured into a pint glass at 42 degrees. The beer has a beautiful two finger head that is foamy creamy, bubbly and has great retention. The head left some sexy lacing on the glass. The color of the beer is a pale yellow and is hazy with some carbonation bubbles.

Lightly toasted malt with a nice earthy citrus floral aroma. A touch of sweetness, some yeasty notes, and touch of grass.

A firm lightly toasted malt, with citrus, earthy, and floral notes. A touch of honey, yeast, biscuity, and some grass.

The body is light plus, medium plus carbonation, medium astringency, and medium plus finish.

I seriously can say anything bad about this beer. It is spot on and very good. A must try for any beer nut.

Canned 12/07/17. Pours hazy, gold in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is big melon, tangerine, and grassy bitterness and a touch of unripe strawberry. Bitter, medium-high bodied with moderate carbonation. Really complex for the style. All sorts of wonderful flavors going on here. Fruity, but not juicy like a NEIPA. Different from most pales I have had. I will get this again. Well worth seeking out. Favorite from the brewery so far.

this is a really well balanced beer, citra hops create the citrus aroma and taste with a subtle and welcomed background of pine, really delicious

This ale is fabulous! Def. a pale ale but with tons of mouth feel and flavor - and thankfully, not too bitter (like say Dales Pale Ale which I tired of because of the overly-bitter quality). Lives up to my expectations after falling in love w/ their IPA. Note: At $15 a sixer, it is pricey, in leagues with Great Divide for instance.

Can dated 08/17/17 into a tulip glass.

L: Pours vibrant golden with 2 fingers of variable density white head that had moderate retention and left mixed lacing.

S: Nose is mostly citrus forward, with some bready and caramel malt undertones.

T: Follows nose but with more citrus dominance. Finishes dry and crisp with moderate bitterness and some astringency, clears palate quickly.

F: Moderate body with higher carbonation, slick and lively on the tongue.

O: Great APA, will definitely be in my fridge whenever I see it fresh...especially now that Melvin has distro in NorCal. Bravo
