Notes / Commercial Description:
Hubert? I’ve heard of him. A friend of a friend knows him. Apparently he’s awesome, but we’ve never met. Well. It’s about time you did. Most you connoisseurs would just call him an IPA, but we call him an MPA. The Melvin Pale Ale. A welcomed hand shake to your taste buds. Light, crisp, fresh and a little bitty bitter. Lets just say he won’t be that jerk that leaves you at the bar at 2am. He’s low in alcohol. What a nice guy… that Hubert.

12 oz can poured into pint glass, thanks to Kyle for the brew.
A: pours a medium golden wheat body, bright white one finger foam head that fades to the perimeter, stringy lacing, carbonation
S: buttery orange, tropical fruit aroma like pineapple, cracker, sweet malt
M: medium creamy body that has some crispness
T: orange oil, grapefruit rind, heavy hop punch, biscuit, malty, pine resin
O: good solid IPA that packs a punch

Poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a golden bronzed yellow color with a sly transparency about it. Some carbonation was seen rising gently to fill a lingering cap of a slim white foamy head. Light spotty lace ran around the glass gently, slightly sticky.
The aroma had some honey, and sweet citrus flowing over some sweet crisp cracker malt.
The flavor seemed to have mirrored the aroma fairly spot on but also providing a gentle crisp bitterness coming in slightly. Moderate aftertaste of the honey and cracker letting in a touch of bitterness.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt spot on. ABV felt as projected. Nice amount of bitterness in the finish but still at the APA level.
Overall, well worthy of an APA to come back to. Was $2.99 from Craft Beer Cabin at Plattsburgh, NY.

Pours an unclear yellow, with thick, soapy foam.

Smell is citrusy with plenty of piney resin backing it up.

Taste is piney and citrusy with a substantial bitterness carrying it. A solid malt base keeps it well balanced.

Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.

Overall, a really good pale ale, that should really be called an IPA as far as taste goes.

Big head, easily past three fingers, off white color, fine foam, really whipped up with a surface of rolling hills, thin but long lacing streaks. Full haziness to the liquid, opaque dark golden color, few visible bubbles. Piney nose dripping with tangerine to pink grapefruit citrus, tar, mango, papaya, pineapple fruit, very tropical and thick in the nostrils. Full-bodied and surprisingly foamy. Sour with pine, wet leafiness and grass, considerably more dank here. The grapefruit pith is tacky and dry. Less richness in the mango, nectarine, peach, apricot fruit yet possesses a pretty floral finish with overall consistent thickness. Has good drinkability for its heft.

Slightly hazed yellow-orange with two fat fingers of airy white head. Modest soapy lacing.

Pine, a bit of pot and orange citrus stand out most in the nose at a little over a month old.

Light, but peppery tasting. There's a kiss of honey-orange sweetness, some water cracker malt and very mild bitterness. Not particularly hop-forward, it has a fairly clean finish.

Maybe a touch heavy bodied for the style with good prickliness in the feel.

Pleasant. I'd prefer the bitterness dialed up a notch for better balance, but it's a perfectly refreshing APA. Canned on 1/4/18.

Canned 10/27/17, "I don't know bro"
Pours a huge frothy foamy head that fades slowly with sticky lacing, hazy sediment laden pale orange color

Nose fair hops, some citrus, a touch of grapefruit, floral, a bit grassy, hint of malt

Taste brings more hops, citrus, orange candy notes, little zest, touch of grapefruit and almost tropical notes but not quite there, perhaps mango, a bit spicy and floral notes, candy sweet like malts, cracker notes, creamy too, finishes drier and very bitter like a nice APA, spicy citrus rind hops

Mouth is med bod, a bit creamy, decent fluffy carb

Overall not bad, feel like it would have been better fresh, but still not bad.

This beer. Showing up in MA out of the blue and bringing its expertly balanced West Coast not-quite-IPA chassis with a crisp layer of citrus on top. Crisp, well carbonated, dry and perfectly bitter. Come on in my fridge, friend, and stay as long as you like.

Cans sat in the shadow of its more popular IPAs until I decided to give it a shot. My favorite of what I’ve had so far from Melvin.

Cloudy copper-gold hue with a soft cap of head. Not hazzzeee, not clear - somewhere between.

Crisp piney, citrusy and floral aroma that speaks to a hop-heavy profile. But! You pick up some crackery malt as well. Outstanding.

Taste is pine, hop-citrus that veers toward domestic fruit as opposed to tropical - orange, grapefruit, lemon zest - and a spicy earthiness that leads into the exceptionally dry finish.

Clean, crisp, bright - eminently drinkable.
