Notes / Commercial Description:
Hubert? I’ve heard of him. A friend of a friend knows him. Apparently he’s awesome, but we’ve never met. Well. It’s about time you did. Most you connoisseurs would just call him an IPA, but we call him an MPA. The Melvin Pale Ale. A welcomed hand shake to your taste buds. Light, crisp, fresh and a little bitty bitter. Lets just say he won’t be that jerk that leaves you at the bar at 2am. He’s low in alcohol. What a nice guy… that Hubert.

12 oz can. Pours slightly hazy golden yellow with a big creamy bubbly white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is sweet cracker malts with piney resiny hops and some fruit.

The flavor is sweet honey malts with a little fruit and a huge piney resiny bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a nice huge hop forward pale ale.

Wow! This one was a surprise. This is a simply beautiful pale ale. This is truly a world class pale ale that should be spoken in the same breath as PseudoSue and Zombie Dust. This is sure to be an everyday drinker that will likely always have a place in my fridge.

It's been fun trying different Melvin beers this week and finding their differing hop profiles, flavors and aromas.

This beer looked more hazy than the others I've had with the frothy head that and bountiful lace they all show.

The aroma is noticeably more piney and less fruity though there's still plenty of tropical notes here.

Flavor-wise it's clear the malt is more forward and offers some biscuity qualities and bread. Impressively though, there's still a savage bitterness, zest and grapefruit tang. It hints at juiciness and fruity tropical flavors too. The finish is all dry and bitter.

This could possibly be more bitter than the IPA and DIPA and that's curious to me. It does make it a smidgen less easy to slam with abandon but this still has a light quality that allows for a Hubert session.

On draft at Tin Bucket. Great looking beer, pleasantly hazy. Nice dry hop aroma, a little less of that in the flavor but citrusy and a great clean finish.

Bottle from Albertsons. Starts off like a champ, gentle fluffy head rising from the bottle after cracking it open, which continued on into a beautiful pour. Hazy copper body. Gentle hoppy nose, caramel toffe malts, perfectly balanced, tasty, easy to drink. This could easily be an everyday beer.

On tap at Tin Bucket.Review #2300 + new to me brewery + new state - yay!

A clear golden orange with a dense, white head that falls off leaving nice lacing, this looks great. The nose is pretty spectacular. Bright, pungent, bitter with pine, candied pineapple, orange, bright and refreshing, with minimal malt character, this is an excellent APA. Plenty of citrus is present - tangerine, orange, mandarin - making this quite delightful. The palate opens moderately bitter, mildly resiny and with a wonderful blend of bitterness and flavor, with citrus, a little pine and a moderate amount of resin present. Malt is minimal - cracker and a little biscuit - allowing the hops to shine. Drying, bitter and clean on the finish, this beer is light in body, refreshing and delicious. Just a hair too light on the body, but apart from that, this beer is excellent. Highly recommended

I had this beer on-tap at Special Brews in Lynnwood, WA.

Appearance: medium golden hue with a touch of haze and a finger of ivory foam that leaves a nice lace on the glass. I like it.

Smell: grassy, green and lightly fruity hops. An enticing mélange!

Taste: that same enticing hop blend with just a dash of added citrus and a bit of a sweet malty back. Just great.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: I think this is my first Wyoming beer, and it's giving me a great impression of the state. A pleasure to drink.

This pours hazy to cloudy straw goldish with an inch of foam.

The smell has a lot of citrus. .no actually the nose is on the lighter side. Some more mild bitterness and some cracker like malt.

My palate says that Hubert leans towards the hoppy side but there's a fine balance going on. Citrus as in grapefruit melds well with the cracker I get from the malt.

Good mouthfeel that finishes dry and bitter.
