On draught at the Keg & Cork.
Pours a pitch black, small head of tan foam.

Smells roasty, bitter, dark chocolate.

Super roasty taste, dark chocolate, quite hoppy. .super dry finish.

Medium body with medium carbonation.

Excellent Porter.

On tap at George Keeley, NYC.
Pours a mostly black color with notes of dark mahogany. A well retaining moderate head yields some lacing action.
The nose begins with notes of dark toast, biscuit and dry nutty malts, along with subtle earthy hops. Soon, roasty tones of bitter dark chocolate and coffee dark roast begin to dominate the aroma, along with complimentary notes of licorice and minty grassy hops.
The taste begins with clean and bright notes of, slightly acrid and evoking an espresso shot accompanied by a lemon wedge. There is bitterness from the flavors of roasted, lightly charred malts, evoking dark nutty flavors, crispy dark toast, and raw cocoa beans. The minty hops offer a grassy brightness and interact nicely with the flavors touch of licorice and peppermint.
Medium to full bodied, smooth mouthfeel and moderate carbonation that packs a bite . Dry, toasty and acrid finish that evokes a nice espresso.
Very drinkable and elegantly crafted. Well done for the style with a nice toasty and well hopped bitterness going on.

32 oz growler from "b2 Taphouse" in Salem OR $4 ( on sale) Very dark brown coloured body with a huge frothy/bubbly gorgeous tan head. Aroma..is chocolate , aniseed and light roast coffee. Taste is the same but sweet with hints of demerara type sugar and now the liquorice shows up..Interesting. Very smooth and well carbnated mouth feel. Not too thick and not to thin. Just right. Nice drinkable porter

On tap at the brewpub in Wyoming. Clear but nearly opaque black - brown body huh an excellent beige head. Nuts and toffee in the nose and chocolate, coffee and brown bread in the flavor. Slightly boozy with a mild bite.

Grunt fill from Albertsons. Dark brown pour, thick fluffy tan head fades to a skin with lots of clumpy lacing. Aroma is very chocolatey, then some roast malts. Taste brings the bitterness, very mild. Nice heft to this beer as well. Feels great.

On tap at Joe Bean Roasters in Rochester, NY.

This smells like dark chocolate, dark fruits, floral hops, and licorice.

This has a nice creamy and almost glossy flavor, with a slightly spicy licorice flavor, and lots of chocolate goodness. The flavor slightly falls off at the end.

This is a bit light bodied, but nicely creamy and very drinkable. There's a normal level of carbonation.

This is the first dark beer I've had from Melvin. Their hoppy beers so far are better, but this is still a nice little beer.

Such a tasty porter from the usually hoppy Melvin. A great classic take on a porter with a roasted yet light body. Goes down easy and doesn't linger. Definitely a surprise and recommendation.

Excellent. A terrific Porter. Well balanced with terrific mouth feel. Easy to drink, with more alcohol than you want in a session beer!

A huge, convex fluffy tan head bobbles above a dull blackish-brown body almost like just out of the oven cake batter.

Scenario is nutty, roasty, airy and woody with semi-bitter baker's cocoa, tangy licorice, and light coffee and cola accents.

The medium-light body has a filling froth and a dry finish.
