Notes: Our sessionable West Coast-style pale ale built on Simcoe, Mosaic and Citra with the faintest hint of bitterness - reminiscent of that delicious and bright West Coast IPA & Pale Ale that we have come to miss. THAIGER STYLE!

Poured into an English pint glass, the appearance had a bright rustic copper color, somewhat transparent with a semi-sustaining finger and a half's worth of white foamy head. Since it really took it 's time dissipating, lots of messy spotty lace roamed around the glass.
The aroma captured a well rounded balance of sweet floral to semi-bitter piney character. Some honey-ed biscuit malt intakes a breath of fresh tobacco/earthy/grassy character throwing it's weight in there as it warms.
The flavor possesses a fabulous balance of bittersweet piney hops throwing small jabs at floral hops and honey-ed biscuits. Super smooth aftertaste of honey and biscuits with some piney woody hops.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionable quality. Good carbonation and some stickiness invades my tongue but mostly nice. Finishes with some honey, biscuit dryness, piney wood and a touch of floral quality.
Overall, a very nice APA well worthy of coming back to. ABV seemed close to what the brewer projected. Thanks Steve!

apparently fashioned as some sort of throwback to the west coast when ipa was bitter and balanced, but i had higher hopes for this. i even thought the name might not just harken back to the origins of the brewery, but perhaps include some thai ingredients in a pale or ipa type, lemongrass or coconut or something, but thats not the case, its another citra and mosaic and simcoe beer, and unlike what is normally the case with melvin, this is no better than what anyone else is doing with the same ingredients, and in fact tastes a little boring and samey to me, but its not a bad beer. i have gotten used to being surprised and impressed just about every time from these guys, so something a little more pedestrian here seems odd, should this beer not be this lost on me? its got some crystal malt in it, but it remains dry and light. the hops show their identity in the nose, still a dry hop on this, more mosaic than the others, but they are more bitter than flavorful in the taste, still not too aggressive or anything, just perhaps not as prominent in the flavor as they could be. a pine element there from the simcoe, but this is old news, not enough citra to make it pop or freshen or lighten it up either. its nice to have a hop forward melvin beer at this lower abv, so many of them are so big, but i wouldnt reach for this one again in a hurry. its well made and all, but there are a million other breweries out there making the exact same beer right now. a little disappointed overall, but more because of the high expectations i have for these guys...

12oz can served in a big snifter. If there's a date, I don't see it.

Pours a ruby amber color with a medium sized head. Clear. Smell is bright fruity, kind of berry like, definitely citrus, maybe pineapple.

Taste is similar, but more tropical. No berry hints, just tropical and citrus.

Mouthfeel is moderately thin, kind of light. Overall, very tasty beer.

This one is billed as a West Coast IPA that is brewed in Wyoming. But in reality, it’s like when you go to a Mexican Restaurant in Tokyo, or ask for a cheese burger in London - you’re playing with Fire. As far as this beer right here goes... actually, nah, I can’t even praise it in anyway. It’s not downright terrible, but like Tara Reid post The Big Lebowski, well, you get the picture. It just tastes weird. There is no tropical fruit, there is no West Coast bitterness... it’s just funky like Mark Wahlberg post whatever.

Pass.

24 ounce Crowler bought at 2nd Street Discount Liquor. $6.50. Hey, it's a tall boy.

Pours a clear deep gold with a finger of foam, leaves excellent lacing behind.

Smells of pine and citrus, hoppy in a more traditional sense. West coast aromas. Not fruity. Yay!

Power packed with pine and grapefruit citrus flavours, at a reasonably low abv.
Slight hint of bread, some caramel. Hoppy without loads of bitterness.

Mouthfeel has almost a resinous feel to it. Carbonation is spot on.

Very good and very easy drinking. I wonder aboot the Thai part in the name, though.

I love the combo of piney/citrus hoppiness this beer brings to the table! Not "hints of" "slight taste of" this ninja jumps right on top of you and punches you in the face with fist after fist of drinkable hopps. Loved it!
Drink much!

Damn, this is ugly. It's an okay beer, but not the Hubert part 2 I was hoping for.

This would be a great introduction to Melvin for those who haven't tired them, or to IPA for those who are not fans. It has many of the aroma and taste characteristics of other Melvin products, but does not hold up to the regular Melvin IPA and cannot hold a candle to the experience of 2x4 or anything in the RIPA series.

Dark amber body; lively carbonation; thin yet lasting head. Deep resinous and dank hop aroma; spicy and peppery. The taste has a prominent hop bitterness with a nice light malt base; pine sap; great dull sweetness to balance the hop presence. Medium body; slick and oily on the palate; semi-sweet and semi-dry.

Yes, my prejudice does lean towards this classic American style of IPAs. It has a fairly clean and crisp presence with a notable hop bitterness presence. Perhaps back in the day, this one may have bordered on 'tongue scraping' as a descriptive, but regardless of the time references, this is just a damn fine, hoppy IPA.
