Canned 1/11/18 (five weeks ago), the IPA is a deep honey color in the glass, with golden highlights. One finger of thick froth leaves bands of chunky lacing behind.

Smells a bit fruity, a little sweet. Nothing jumping out at me there.

Before I even really taste anything I notice the thick, creamy, sticky mouthfeel. Smooth carbonation really plays up how resinous this seems. Caramel malt adds to the sweetness and perceived stickiness. Orange peel, pine resin and caramel dominate. Lasting palette impressions are both bitter and sweet.

On the heavier side of the IPA spectrum, more of a sipper than a pounder.

A nice west coast IPA as I have been drinking a lot of haze lately. Pours a dark golden to copper color. Nice fluffy white head. Nose is of citrus and pine. Taste of grapefruit, oranges and pine gum. A nice well balanced malt presence. Mouthfeel has a light bit of stickyness that quickly fades to a nice dry crisp finish. Excellent finish to this one.

Poured into a tulip a very nice clean/clear dark orange color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy HUGE two-finger plus off-white head, which also leaves some very nice thick/creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, slight malt note, very nice citrus note, nice piney note. The taste is very nice hoppy, slightly malty, with a very nice touch of citrus, pretty nice pineyness. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, a little chewyness as well, with a very nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, another awesome brew from Melvin. Highly Recommended!

Gorgeously effervecent on the pour, bubbles that make it sparkle! Absolutely Beautiful beer. About 1cm white head. Good balance of citrus and tropical fruits. very aromatic, with aroma on the tropical side. Tasty! It’s been my recent go to ipa.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a two finger white head with great retention and lots of thick lacing. Aroma is just what I'm looking for: caramel malt, piney and citrus hops, hints of stone and tropical fruit. Flavor is mildly caramel malt, resinous, but not intense, piney and citrus hops, tropical fruit, lemon and orange. Finishes with smooth resinous piney and citrus hops. Great medium body with pleasant creaminess, great mouth feel. My first reaction to the first sip, was "smooth", everything seems in harmony, great balance of hops and malt. The malt feels substantial and has a light caramel component, but its flavor melds with the other parts. I expected a little more intense hoppiness, but for an IPA this balanced, I'm willing to enjoy everything else. My second Melvin and I'm very impressed.

About a month old-
L- a dull orange (not my favorite) but tons of sticky lacing.
S- sugary orange, pine and some ripe fruit (like peach)
T- caramelized hops up front (sweet citrus and pine) with a lingering moderate grapefruit bitterness. Well balanced, juicy and very drinkable as it masks the ABV quite well.
F- not dry, stays on the tongue with sticky, sweet biterness.
O -top notch IPA, would love to try this within a couple weeks of canning but at a month in still one of the best IPA's you can get in CO. Trying Melvin's lineup has been a real treat.

Full bodied hoppy beautifulness. Had never heard of or seen this brewer's work product until I happened upon it in an upstate New York grocery store. Sehr gut!

melvin just hit my area, figured i'd make the safe choice with a straight forward brew. can't read the whole canning date but it ends with 2020 so i think i'm doing alright here. slightly burnt orange/honey color brew, little bit of cloudiness that's suspended in the liquid and a tight knit finger and a half of white foam resting on top, which has more or less lasted and left a mess behind. the aroma is a very nice candied grapefruit/orange with a lemon peel thrown in. there's a backdrop of that familiar pine and sweet malt smell, balancing out the pungent citrus nicely. the flavor profile is, as expected, more of the same. but it packs a bit more of a punch than the aroma let off, with a blend of tangerines, grapefruit and a tinge of citrus rinds smacking you right off the bat. lightly sweetened biscuit/cracker joins the party after a moment and keeps it all in check, while a floral/earthy note picks up the back end and especially kicks up after this has warmed a bit. heavier on the orange-y notes than i've had in a lot of ipa's like this but that's for the better. it's all blending nicely and going down like a dream. slight lingering bitterness and finishes quite dry. the most medium of medium bodied, not overly carbonated and really just very, very solid. a beer that will hopefull find it's way into my fridge again soon

Canned on 8/11/2016, so less than a month old, but stored at room temperature at my local Bevmo. Since it is canned, I suppose it should be ok. Threw it in the fridge to chill out for a day, popped it open the next day. Here it goes.
A - Orange with tight, off-white, almost nitro looking foam. No lacing observed on my Hennepin pokal glass. Besides that, I think they nailed the presentation.
S - I will say that the smell on this beer changes quite a bit as it warms up. When cold, the predominant smell was peaches and pine. As it warms up, you get some pineapple, green apples, mango and traces of guava. I am now left to wonder what it might have smelled like, fresh off the bottling line. Oh well, one can always dream.
T - Opens sweet with a strong presence of peaches, pine and some marmalade. The taste does not bring about as much juiciness as promised in the smell. Nonetheless, it drinks much lighter than a 7.5% ABV beer. The hops have been masterfully blended to bring about a drying, thinning, lasting aftertaste making this an extremely drinkable brew. Beware though, at 7.5%, this will get you down if you are not playing it safe.
M - Light, which is extremely surprising given this IPA is bordering on DIPA territory. Kudos to the brewmasters on a wonderful effort.
O - Very impressed with this beer. Wish it wasn't as priceyr.

Really good west coast ipa. I like the hop profile but it's not overly bitter. Super smooth feel with a sticky aftertaste that is quite nice. Diamond in the rough here.
