Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a two finger white head with great retention and lots of thick lacing. Aroma is just what I'm looking for: caramel malt, piney and citrus hops, hints of stone and tropical fruit. Flavor is mildly caramel malt, resinous, but not intense, piney and citrus hops, tropical fruit, lemon and orange. Finishes with smooth resinous piney and citrus hops. Great medium body with pleasant creaminess, great mouth feel. My first reaction to the first sip, was "smooth", everything seems in harmony, great balance of hops and malt. The malt feels substantial and has a light caramel component, but its flavor melds with the other parts. I expected a little more intense hoppiness, but for an IPA this balanced, I'm willing to enjoy everything else. My second Melvin and I'm very impressed.

A nice west coast IPA as I have been drinking a lot of haze lately. Pours a dark golden to copper color. Nice fluffy white head. Nose is of citrus and pine. Taste of grapefruit, oranges and pine gum. A nice well balanced malt presence. Mouthfeel has a light bit of stickyness that quickly fades to a nice dry crisp finish. Excellent finish to this one.

12 oz. Can
Canned On: 021317

Poured into a tulip a very nice clean/clear dark orange color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy HUGE two-finger plus off-white head, which also leaves some very nice thick/creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, slight malt note, very nice citrus note, nice piney note. The taste is very nice hoppy, slightly malty, with a very nice touch of citrus, pretty nice pineyness. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, a little chewyness as well, with a very nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, another awesome brew from Melvin. Highly Recommended!

About a month old-
L- a dull orange (not my favorite) but tons of sticky lacing.
S- sugary orange, pine and some ripe fruit (like peach)
T- caramelized hops up front (sweet citrus and pine) with a lingering moderate grapefruit bitterness. Well balanced, juicy and very drinkable as it masks the ABV quite well.
F- not dry, stays on the tongue with sticky, sweet biterness.
O -top notch IPA, would love to try this within a couple weeks of canning but at a month in still one of the best IPA's you can get in CO. Trying Melvin's lineup has been a real treat.

12 oz can. Pours slightly hazy golden orange with a big meringue white head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is sweet bready malt, soft fruit and lots of piney resiny hops.

The flavor is sweet fruity caramel malt with lots of resiny dank piney hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a very nice IPA.

12 ounce can into a ten ounce nonic glass.

Light copper-colored liquid with a sudsy inch and a half of head. Light trickling carbonation is visible as the body is nearly perfectly clear. Lace forms a crown around the glass. 4.75

Very sexy aroma. Pungent tropical fruit. Mango, pineapple and papaya. The usual suspects. A malty aroma is present in the form of light caramel, bread and vanilla. Spicy and resinous notes appear too. This is great. 4.25

I'm surprised by how juicy this flavor is. Pungent, prickly and spicy both in flavor and feel. Pineapple bursts. Dry mango follows. Dry, resinous and earthy notes take things out. I'm impressed how much tropical fruit flavor this is hitting with. Who says haze is required for a juice bomb? T- 4.5 M- 4.25

12oz can - 'two brewers walk into a Thai restaurant in Wyoming, day drink, and write a recipe'. Excuse me while I giggle in the corner for a wee spell.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium copper amber colour, with a near-teeming tower of puffy, rocky, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some flawless hanging sudsy bursa sac lace around the glass as things lazily recede.

It smells of gritty and grainy caramel malt, slightly dank pine resin, some muddled domestic citrus flesh, further pineapple and mango tropical notes, a bit of wet stoniness, and more leafy, weedy, and estery floral green hop bitters. The taste is bready and doughy caramel malt, generic Pez candy, some orange, red grapefruit, and lemon citrus acerbity, further blended exotic locales fruity notes, a reduced resinous pine forest floor thing, some minor hard water flintiness, and more leafy, herbal, and grassy verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate for the job at hand here, via its stubborn frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and generally smooth, with a minor airy creaminess arising as things warm up a tad around here. It finishes well off-dry, the big lingering malt aided and abetted by the tropical fruitiness, for the most part.

Overall, this is one brassy New World IPA, utilizing all both the PAC-NW and tropics have to offer as far as hoppy goodness goes. Very tasty, engaging, with with barely a lick of that 15-proof booziness even bothering to show itself over the course of this affair. Great stuff.
