Pours dark. Tan foam. Malty aroma. Huge roasted malt body. Smokey with a bitter finish. Rich and delicious. One of the better porters I've had.

draught
Ample, beige head, that sticks around. Very very, dark brown, with the slightest chestnut highlights, at the bottom of the glass. Good amount of dark roasted grains and a bit of chicory and a touch of coffee, in the aroma, though the level of aromas, are somewhat light. A light bodied and somewhat thin tasting porter. Fairly good, dark roasted grain flavor and finish, though light in flavor.

Single can picked up as part of a mix-6 and split with a friend. Pours dark brown, nearly opaque with a large tan head. Aroma and flavor feature dark roasty malt, bitter chocolate, and coffee. Mouthfeel is full and moderately carbonated. I will definitely buy this again in the future to drink by myself.

Poured into a small chalice: color is very dark brown, head is tan with fine bubbles and presents with 1 finger width head, head lingers with thin solid top, some light lacing on the glass.
Smell is light roast, hint of chocolate, only so subtle grassy hop aroma.
Taste is near perfect blend of roast, chocolate, herbal and grassy notes with a pleasant lingering sweetness. A touch sweet on the finish but a bitter presence counters.
Mouthfeel is low carbonation, light creamy sweetness, then light, slow bitterness counters lingerings sweetness.
Overall a great porter, glad to have found this one amid the wide choice in Finger Lakes region.

Look: Deep dark brown in color; appears black in the glass. Pours with a 1+ light brown head that dies down leaving a thin, uneven layer of foam on the surface of the beer. A few spec of lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell: Huge aroma of roasted dark coffee; hints of grain and sweet black licorice. Delicious and inviting.
Taste: Dark coffee; loads of black licorice; bitter finish.
Feel: Mild fizzy sensation from the carbonation at start; progresses on to velvety finish. Thinner-side of medium body.
Overall: Overall very good porter. Interesting finish. The finish was a little too bitter finish for my tastes.
