12oz bottle poured into a glass.

A: Dark copper with a subtle reddish tinge and a soapy beige head. Good retention, and a nice array of lacing is left on the glass.

S: Nutty and lightly roasted with pronounced caramelization and earth. Moderately estery with some raisin, plum, and granny smith apple. There's a light smoke presence and a hint of tartness.

T: Very fruity immediately, with notes of plum, grape, and raisin. I get a touch of dark cherry and some apple as well. Rich caramel blends with bread and a mild tartness that's surprising but delicious. The finish is very fruity with caramel, bread, and a kiss of tartness.

M: Medium body with lower moderate carbonation. The mouthfeel is dry.

Overall: I really enjoyed this. I doubt this is supposed to be slightly tart but it's a positive here, though probably not for long.

32oz grumbler poured into a snifter. From the brewery yesterday.

A: Pours a clear dark ruby with a 1 finger off white head. Sticks around for a minute or two and leaves some lacing.

S: Sweet malts give it some carmel, roastyness to it as well as some dark fruits.

T: Great roasted malt and carmel up front. Is sweet but not overly with all the malts. Almost a coffee like flavor to it from all the roastiness.

M: Real light body for a heavy scotch ale but it makes it very sessionable. Average carbonation with a creamy mouthfeel. Isnt too sticky and sweet.

Overall this is one of the best scotch ales around. Would recommend anyone who likes malts check this out. Nice roasty characteristics.
