I've heard about this place from two of my tasting group people so we trekked over here today to check it out. Driving down Augusta I would have missed this place if not for the gps. Its a small local ethnic grocery store that you would not see unless specifically looking for it. As I walk in I'm instantly skeptical as it reminds me of a store in Mexico; old, dirty looking even its not, unfamiliar foods everywhere. Once you walk past the counter the middle aisle contains all the beer, and I was super surprised. This is the beer place that time forgot, tons of local stuff that is harder to find (GI and Three Floyds), lots of Belgian staples, and other midwest goodies. No sours though. They still had Rare here at only $39 a bottle. The prices were a bit steep besides the Rare, a buck or two over what you would get at Binny's, but its worth paying as its actually on the shelf, where as most of the popular stuff sells out right away at other places. The owner or beer guy came up to us and we talked briefly. He explained he really likes to keep his beer selection seasonal, and that lots of lagers and pils would start coming in, he knew what he was talking about it. A bit out of my way, especially fighting down Western but if I was looking for something semi rare that sold out everywhere else I would give this is a try. Super solid neighborhood place.

An absolute gem. The staff is incredible, especially Junior. The first time I went in it was like I had been going there my whole life. They have a very good selection for how small the store is and feel free to ask for help or recommendations!

A great craft beer store. The previous reviews mention Junior, and he did not disappoint. He answered all my questions, had a few items in the back he thought I might like, and even gave me a discount for getting a case. The selection is very good. Maybe smaller than some place, just slightly. But all very good quality. I encourage everyone to check out.

This place is a total diamond in the rough. Super friendly and helpful staff, and a terrific selection. Highly recommended.

P FL is my co-favorite store in the city, along with Beer Temple. The selection is great, but the Customer service you get at this place is out of this world. When you stop in, just ask to speak to junior, and he'll answer any questions you have and point you in the right direction. He truly cares about his customers, and it shows. He knows his stuff, and he doesn't jack the prices up for rare beers.
Truly one of the 2 best beer stores in Chicago.

Not sure how to review a beer store's atmosphere. It's like a convenience style grocery store, what do you expect? Zero atmosphere BUT Junior is a great dude. He's always genuinely happy to see everyone that comes in and his store has a much higher ratio of great beer than crap. His pricing is standard suggested retail but he'll randomly give you 10% off if you have a decent sized purchase (or you're just a little short like my broke ass sometimes).

Old-school bodega right here that has a massive craft selection. It doesn't have too much fat on it like other places, it is sleek and well picked. The main beer guy Junior is a knowledgeable and very accommodating beer guy. The food seems to be tax free, at least when I bought some there which is a plus I would say, fuck Crook county.

Junior and his staff are amazing. I do 99% of my beer shopping here and can always get hard-to-find beers. Junior is so kind and I find myself many times at his store for an hour just talking beer and everyday life. Also, you will NOT find better prices around than his! Proof is his $29.99 Fifty Fifty Eclipse compared to everywhere else it being $35-40

I will keep this short and sweet. I just have to say, This place is the definition of a diamond in the rough. Couldn't tell from the outside, but this place has a killer selection. The only thing that out weighs it's selection is the man himself, Junior. Seriously one of the nicest guys, and eager to help in anyway he can. Even if their selection sucked, I would prob still go back just to talk to him. I don't live close anymore, but still make a special trip on occasion.

Great owner, generous and very helpful. I was introduced here from my bro-in-law and couldn't have been more impressed with the knowledge of the owner and the selection at hand. If I lived closer to here, I'd be there daily!
It seems the only thing holding them back here is the size of the store front. I'm sure they would love to pack a few more rows of beer into the place but a large portion of the business is fully dedicated to the great craft beer selection. The owner sends out a weekly newsletter updating his new stock and promoting to his regulars the rare and hard to come by new releases as they arrive.
Cheers

Puerto Rico is absolutely the best shop in the city. The owner, Junior, is a very nice and generous man who can guide you to the type of beer you are looking to find. Like others have said, he takes great passion in his selection. The store itself might not be as large as the bigger stores, but Puerto Rico gets pretty much anything they can get and then some. And they are able to sell their items at some of the lowest in the city, unlike other small specialty shops. Plus he always has some good fresh produce if you need that as well!

Found this gem of a place based on the other BA reviews and was not disappointed. It's in a nicer neighborhood easy to access by car. Inside about half the store is beer and half is everything else you'd find at a corner grocery. I was very impressed with the huge and varied section of fantastic craft beers. Plenty of imports, west coast beers and east coast beers. The owners really know their stuff and go out of their way to help out shoppers, they know what's on the shelves. The big cooler section was filled with plenty of variety, not overstocked with BMC like many other places. This little shop is a real find for beer lovers and a really clever upgrade to a corner store--clear half the shelf space to stock craft beer! Would love to have one of these back home in my neighborhood. Win!
