L: Had this beer on-tap at Westbrook's tasting room, poured into a snifter. Had a dark brown color and a thick, murky consistency. There was a small amount of off white, foamy head that quickly dissipated. Fair lacing.
S: A big, enticing aroma of bourbon, fruit, malt, caramel, and oak.
T: Tasted of a good amount of caramel, lots of malt (not too much, though), a woody oak element, just enough bourbon, vanilla, a nutty quality, some dark fruit, and a little citrus (orange). A very aggressive and complex flavor. Well balanced and somehow unusual.
F: An average amount of carbonation with a somewhat syrupy finish. Medium- to full-bodied.
O: An interesting, well made big beer. Certainly a sipping beer, but likable.

Had this at the Brewers Kettle a few days back.Poured into a goblet a menacing looking deep dark brown with a thinner almost non existent head atop.Mild spicy rye, vanilla tinged oak,and alot of nuttiness.Alot going on aroma wise, very complex.A full mellow feel with very light carbonation.Caramel and vanilla up front on the palate with just a faint almost lactic element from the rye with a candied orange note that comes thru late. Not quite as good as the Improved Old Fashioned I had awhile back from Brooklyn but an interesting beer none the less.Obviously this beer had some age to it.

Smells and tastes like dough. I want to toast this and spread butter on it.
