Brief Review:

O: Another shout-out to my work buddy for this. My second gose variant. The Key Lime notes work well here, not overly extra tart from the lime. Good graham cracker balance. Maybe even a little less tart than the original, which I like. Great job here, Westbrook hitting it out of the park as usual.

Recommendation: Another stellar variant, these sours don't miss.

A Tavour Treat. Pours a medium yellow color with a minimal head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of limes and other citrus. Taste is salty and slightly sour; lots of lime flavor. An interesting brew.

When I picked this up in store I didn’t realize how highly regarded it is for a Gose, I was just intrigued by the key lime pie. I haven’t had many Goses this summer surprisingly, for a quintessential summer style I really haven’t seen many of them around. Let’s see what this one is all about

Pours a cloudy yellow gold with 2 fingers of off white head that quickly fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing

Man, the pie notes here are surprisingly front and center. I’m picking up on aromas of graham cracker, lime juice, candied lime, crackery malt, custard, and light coriander

It strikes a really nice balance in taste too, super tart but the pie crust is a nice offset. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting lime juice, lemon zest, graham cracker, vanilla, bready malt, and a touch of orange juice. The swallow brings notes of lime juice, graham cracker, custard, sea salt, candied lime, coriander, lemon zest, and light wheat

A light medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a tart and crisp beer. Finishes very dry and refreshing

Wow, this is a very good Gose. A wonderful summer crusher that I wish was more readily available near me

Blind tasting for NBS BIF #15 Mystery Beer. Thanks to Mbgreg
Can stamped: 3950 , 3952 03/04/22
So it pours a muted gold to true peach color. White foam pops up for a split second then disappears. Absolutely no head thereafter. Upon closer examination, there is still a stream of bubbles rising, but it results in zero foam.
Initial pop of the can gave a very sulphury burst. After a minute or so, that is gone. Now I am getting some peach or apricot sour notes. Definitely sour.
Ok, now I am confused. The flavor starts off with some apricot but there's an interesting vanilla meets short bread kind of note. Or maybe a diluted lemon bar. And yet I am wondering if I am getting some mango nectar. Dang. Confused.
Mouthfeel is light to medium, light on the carbonation, and finishes mildly sour and barely acidic.

From the bottom of the can: "3815 07/29/21 08:30"

Appearance: It is a dull, milky beige color with a nearly opaque body. It has a very short white head. No retention or lacing.

Aroma: A bit of lime, sour raspberry, and vinegar comes through. The vinegar aroma is very off-putting, but the lime character seems to do a good job of keeping it at bay.

Taste: A nondescript tartness up front. Towards the middle of the mouth there is a kind-of coconut character. A lime tartness at the back of the mouth.

Mouthfeel: It is very tart and there is a very light bitterness at the end of the sip which is accompanied by the lime flavor. It is light bodied.

Overall: The can states that this is a "Sour ale brewed with spices and with natural flavors added" as well as calling it a "Key Lime Pie Gose." It does have some lime character but it is very tart when compared to the average Gose and compared to a key lime pie. The vinegar aroma starts to go away while the beer is being consumed but it isn't pleasant to smell prior to drinking. As a whole the beer didn't feel very well made and I wouldn't buy it again. It's alright enough that I could drink it at a picnic if somebody brought one, but I wouldn't buy it. I wouldn't recommend it as there are much better Goses on the market and better Key Lime Pie Goses on the market.

Pours a dull, dark brownish orange color. Quite cloudy, but in line with the style. A one to two finger head forms and then quickly disappears with no residual head retained. There is some chunky debris floating in the beer. Not sure what it is exactly, but its initially suspended and then gradually sinks to the bottom of the glass.

Aroma is a pungent and delicious array of fresh lime, wheat, some light cinnamon spice but really the lime absolutely dominates the aroma. Its so strong, it actually made me pucker just smelling it.

Taste follows the nose - dominant fresh lime produces an almost instant puckering tartness. Soft wheat malts provide the backbone with some light graham cracker and cinnamon notes. Its kind of weird how well they captured the key lime pie flavor profile in this beer - BUT without being overly sweet or cloying. Really, its not all that sweet at all.

Feel is light, moderately tart, with a drier finish on the back end.

Overall this is a delicious beer - they've done such a good job capturing the key lime pie here but avoided making it just a diabetic bomb. I would definitely drink this one again.

Excellent head production. Retention is poor, but not out of line for the style, quickly fading to nothing. Body is a slightly hazy lemon yellow.

Nose is sharp, slightly musty, with a hint of lime. Straw, salt, honey.

There's a pleasant lime character, fairly low sweetness, and a bit of pie crust-like character to the malt. Nicely sour. Just a bit of briny salt on the finish.

Not much about this beer sets it apart from the regular Westbrook Gose, with just a bit of lime, but that's not a bad thing. Running with a Key Lime pie theme, this beer could easily have gone overboard and been a gimmick. Instead, it's a lightly flavored Gose, quite sour, with the lime flavors adding just enough of an accent to an already great beer.
