There's really no more of a refreshing course as there is with lemon, cucumber and sourness. A proven winner in the cocktail industry, the brewers of Westbrook take these cues and roll them into a loose German styled sour ale interpretation for a summery beer that claims the best of all worlds.

Pale gold and glowing through a diffused fog of wheat, the light creamy froth that adorns the rim drifts across the nose with a brisk citrus scent and the perfumy fragrance of fresh cut basil, bright vegetation and melon. Underneath a gentle waft of sea air lies a taste that's timidly sweet with saltwater taffy, lemon tart and honeysuckle.

As the influence of malt and grain lift away, the sourness of the ale underneath graces the middle palate with lime, lemon, green apple, white grape, gooseberry and kiwi. Refreshing unto its own, the layers of cucumber seems more fruity than vegetal with a juiciness of honeydew before a minty, basil-like, tea-like finish.

Low in bitterness a slim vegetal bite adds to the salad impressions as a lemon dressed arugula comes to mind. Light, crisp and highly refreshing, Lemon Cucumber Gose is an absolute crowd pleaser for the warmer weather sans those adverse to cucumber. It's an adventurous but effortless taste with a quick finish of sourdough and tonic.

From a 12 oz. can into a Willi Becher style glass, this beer pours out a slightly hazy straw color with lemon highlights. It forms over a finger worth of white bubbles that dissipate to nothing in less than a minute. 4

The nose carries what it lists. Cucumber and lemon tangle all the way throughout on top of a salty base. 4.5

The taste brings fresh sliced cucumbers mixing with a freshly squeezed lemon tartness. I love what the cucumber is offering. 4.5

It’s light, refreshing and dry. Offers a mild tartness to cut through some of the lemon and cucumber and a kiss of salt. 4.5

Overall, this is a very good gose. It would be hard to buy anything else in the summer if I had Westbrook distribution. 4.5

An admittedly old can but found this way out of balance, a lemon bomb without much in the way of discernible cucumber flavor or aroma and not much salinity either. Just overly fizzy tart lemon juice. Will try again but hoped for more, especially in terms of cucumber notes.

Poured into a snifter. Fairly hazy and golden in color. A vigorous pour produced a fluffy white head that settled quickly. The aroma was exactly what I was expecting, with bright lemon, restrained cucumber, wheat, and a slightly minty aspect. Same with the taste: the lemon and cucumber really blended nicely, creating for me a totally unique flavor. Slightly tart with enough salt to notice. Medium bodied and packed full of flavor for a 4% beer. This was absolutely delicious and is highly recommended.

Dipping back into the box of goodies from @Dragginbals76 during NBS BIF #8
Just a little touch of texture keeping this one just this side of crisp and clear, but a nice rich yellow colour. Tight white head swells and dissipates in a single motion leaving just the galaxy of errant bubbles across the 'cap.'

Nose is rich lemon first and foremost. Cucumber serves to mellow the edges so it's not acidic sharp, but it is not the sweet of fake or candied lemon, just a softened lemon juice. Maybe a faint salinity. LEMON moreso than tart.

Oohh... Cucumber comes through much more on the tongue and wow is it refreshing. Cucumber leads and gives it a cool mellow intro before transitioning to some dull lemon. Finish dials the bright character up a touch, but still more on the middle course. Mild tart at best.

Effervescent carbonation and the classic gose feelings of acidity/salinity that creates a gummy sticky sensation from the salival glands.

This is fantastic. I hope it's not truly a one off, because it's really really good. Thanks Mike for sending this along!

Can into a pint appears hazy pale yellow with a white cap.

Aroma is lemony tart and zesty with grassy cucumbers.

Taste is lemony lactic tart, sight grassy cucumber very refreshing and almost minty.

Light in body lightly carbonated and an absolutely crushable brew.

Canned 08/13/18. Should have enjoyed earlier but got lost in the fridge. Thanks to rudzud

Nice creamy white fluffy but smaller head, decent retention, nice lacing, crystal clear slight honey pale color

Nose thankfully still nice, nice bright lemon but like a sweetened meyer lemon, but raw cucumber skin, some fresh herbs like sage, a hint of maybe coriander like spice, and light doughy wheat like malt

Taste brings all of the above, with a nice tart lemony that even gets a little sour, touch of acidity as well, hint of salt with some nice coriander and herb like spice again almost sage like, lemon also comes with a sour acidity and tartness, little sweet doughy malt, salt increases to fairly noticeable, but also more fresh cucumber in the background, enough to enjoy it, tart flemmy finish with more salt and lemon zest

Mouth is lighter bod, medium to lighter carb, tart acidic and a bit flemmy,

Overall very nice and enjoyable, I bet it pops even more when fresh, but this was still quite nice. Now I know why rudzud got it for me and told me how good it was. I wish I could get a bunch of cans of these for the summer.

12 oz can dated 6/8/18 poured into Civil Society taster.

Golden blonde with a fluffy head of 2 fingers that recedes to a thin ring.

Nose is quite sour, with some salt, lemon, fresh water, and slight lemon candy.

Flavor bursts forward with what reminds me of tartar sauce - but that's purely from the association with lemon. Tons of tart lemon seed, lemon juice, freshly sliced cucumber - rind and all - a huge wash of sourness and acidity, lemonheads, with a heavy yet balanced level of salt. Man, it's sour and puckering.

Feel is crisp and biting, but builds a heavy carbonation the the mouth that delivers a painful swallow (possibly due to the can's age).

Overall, mega sour, but mega tasty. Definitely not the watery quencher I was expecting. Good stuff though - definitely check it out if you're a Gose fan.

Pours hazy, gold in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is fresh lemon, big cucumber, and a great amount of salt. Salty, light bodied, and high carbonation. Delicious, unique, tart, super easy to drink. Should have gotten more of this.

A: The beer is quite hazy yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that quickly settled down, leaving lots of small specks of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of cucumbers are present in the nose along with notes of lemons.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of cucumbers with notes of lemons and a light to moderate amount of sourness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and faintly tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I found this gose to be enjoyable because the aromas and flavors of cucumbers definitely stood out but weren't too strong or overpowering.

12 oz can with a canning date of August 2018 in November 2018
Pours with a clear golden body that has excellent clarity but a short-lived head.
As the aroma suggests, this is quite tart. The flavor has a lot of lemon, subtle cucumber, a faint suggestion of vinegar, and high level of tartness.
Light, dry body with medium carbonation.
Overall: tart, lemony and refreshing.

Presentation: 12 oz. can with the canning dated printed on the bottom. Served in a Sensorik glass.

Appearance: The two finger head sticks around forever and leaves a little lacing in small patches. It's a cloudy gold color.

Smell: Slightly medicinal and herbal but pleasantly soft. The biggest aroma is fresh cucumber with some fresh squeezed lemon juice in the background.

Taste: Very tart and sour, almost lemon sour candy-like. The cucumber is more subdued in the palate than on the nose and gives way to more pronounced citrus peel and lemon flavors. The overall combination is really good though.

Mouthfeel: Crisp, refreshing and medium bodied with medium-high carbonation. The candy-like sugary-ness is a bit cloying though.

Overall: What sounds like a strange mix of flavors at first in the cucumber and lemon actually makes for a really nice and refreshing sour beer. Unfortunately it's a bit too cloying to enjoy in big quantities but in moderation it's a great experience.

Shoutout to Mbgreg for this one!

Hazy golden color. Aroma has fresh cucumber with briny salad dressing notes. Taste is sour, lemony, acidic and dry. Cucumber and lemon are quite evident but also the salt is shining through giving a mineral note. Light to medium body. Another nice one from the gose series.

Got in a BIF from Dragginballs76. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 5/30/2018. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy lemons, cucumber, lime, peach, pear, red/green apple, melon, white wine, sea salt, coriander, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light pepper/musty/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, fruit, sea salt, coriander, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy/tart/tangy lemons, cucumber, lime, peach, pear, red/green apple, melon, white wine, sea salt, coriander, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light pepper/musty/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light coriander spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy lemons, cucumber, lime, peach, pear, red/green apple, melon, white wine, sea salt, coriander, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light pepper/musty/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, fruit, sea salt, coriander, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness and tangy fruit balance; with no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tartness and tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/acidic/tangy, and lightly sticky/saline balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4%. Overall this is a fantastic Gose! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, fruit, sea salt, coriander, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/drying finish. Not overly lactic or salty. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Perfectly balanced vibrant lemons, juicy cucumbers, spice, salt, and Lacto complexity; with a nice pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example as expected.

12oz. can into Night Shift stemware. Shared with schen9303.

Nose is lemon zest and Warhead tartness mixed with a subtle hint of cucumber in the back. Admittedly, if I wasn't looking for it, I wouldn't have noticed it. But its definitely there. Beer opens lemon heads. A nice balance of zingy tartness and mellow sweetness. The cucumber is much more prominent on the palate than on the nose. I don't know if I like it. More puckering towards the middle with a slight rind bitterness. From the cucumber? Finishes soft with barely a finish. Body is light with ample carbonation. Prickly and foamy on the palate and goes down aggressive. Clean finish with near no aftertaste. Really drinkable and refreshing.

I'm not sure if I like this more than the regular gose as the cucumber presence takes a little getting used to. Still, it's interesting and worth a try.

Picked a four pack of this up in a trade. FedEx kept losing the package unfortunately. Canned 8/13/18

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice clear darker gold with a one finger white head that fades slowly to leave thin wisps and a light halo.

S - Aromas of super bright lemons, sharp and zesty, followed by..well...cucumbers! Just really prominent fresh cucumber aroma. Paired with the lemon and coriander and light salt from the base almost gives it a 'quick pickle' like aroma. Swirls really bring out even more cucumber aroma. Super neat.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. Really nice lemon flavour followed by just really pleasant fresh cucumber flavour. Crisp, clean, almost pickle like. Nice light salt, good coriander, really nice creamy wheat. Absolutely delicious.

M - Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, however, the lingering finish is on the flemmy side.

O - Overall this was a very, very enjoyable gose. The lemon and cucumber pops just wonderfully. The cucumber is quite impressive. Definitely a lovely summer time beer, however, I think I like the Key Lime Pie one a little bit more.

Canned on 6/18/18

Pours a pretty hazy golden straw with a good finger of uniform white foam; decent retention and traces of spotty lacing left behind.

Aroma is bright but nicely restrained with a mild tartness mingling excellently balanced lemon acidity and vegetal cucumber; furthermore, I’m getting plenty of grass, rose petals, and various wild herbs from the vegetal aspect, with a slight backbone of hay as well; very well-formed and detailed bouquet.

Taste brings plenty of tart, juicy lemon with the cucumber, slight salt, and plenty of herbal essence following closely; some earthy straw presence adds another element to a rounded profile.

Mouthfeel is clean, tart, zesty, and smoothly crisp all at once, and packed atop a lighter body with medium carbonation; fades on the palate with relative ease while acknowledging all flavors.

Bright lemon and a unique herbaceousness really are the highlights here; a good heft to the body adds a fuller element to the body while holding nicely to the style’s ultimately refreshing quality; good flavor profile and overall just a really well-made gose.

L: Hazy transparent straw-yellow with a small creamy white head. Medium retention. A thin film remains. Good retention for the style. A bit of spotty lacing is left.

S: Cool and zippy cucumber flesh accentuated by tart acidity and sugary lemonade/candied lemon sweetness. A perfect mix of lemonade, lemon candy, and cucumber.

T: A big smack of sourness upfront. Lemon zest, lime, a hint of pineapple and a ton of cucumber. Tart and moderately acidic throughout. A nice white bread wheat backbone. Mild to moderate salt in the background wets the palate. Finishes crisp and clean with a lingering puckering sourness.

F: Light, but highly carbonated and zippy. Incredibly thirst-quenching.

O: An incredibly refreshing, delicious, and flavorful Gose. Amazing!

Light refreshing gose! The name matches the smell and tast, also with the Westbrook name it’s on point for these hot summer months. I got some spices on the nose and some mint on the taste, but the cucumber and loads of tart lemons are the main players.

this is a weird one because it scores well objectively speaking in all the categories, like, its hard to argue that this doesnt smell and taste appetizing, but in the end, it has limited drinkability for me in a style i like to be able to pound on, and i dont think its all that good overall, not as good as some of the other iterations of this, but yet i have a hard time marking it low in any specific field here. weird. the cucumber and the lemon are both strong in the nose, while the salt and the sour are there as well, it is obviously what is says it is. the lemon and cucumber are surprisingly natural in the flavor, especially for how bold they are, usually at this intensity it has to be fake, but its not. i remember that being essentially the same thing with the lime version of this. more cucumber than lemon, like hotel lobby water, and super acidic, especially as it warms, but it has enough carbonation to stay refreshing, the added flavors distract me from what i have always admired as a very solid gose, and they add a lot, but i prefer the base beer to this one i reckon. still salty which i like, summery for sure, just maybe not my exact cup of tea. personal preference i think rather than objective criticism...

12 oz can poured into willybecher glass. Canned on 5/30.

A: murky yellow body with a tiny bubbled creamy looking white head that disappears quickly.

S: lemon then cucumber then pickle a little vinegar and some light saltiness.

T: lots of cool cucumber and earthiness from the cucumber then some lemon and a little bit of sourness not as salty as the regular then the lemon comes back with an acidic finish.

M: medium bodied decent carbonation lots of clingy after taste notes acidicity.

O: the cucumber works nicely in this making it refreshing the lemon clings too long and the aftertaste isn’t the most desirable, overall it’s just ok.

12oz can

A- pours a hazy golden-orange with a one-finger foamy white head that reduces to a ring around the edge

S- lemon zest, cucumber, toasted wheat

T- plenty of lemon tartness up front, complimenting the classic WB gose flavors at the mid-palate. The finish is wearty with the cucumber coming out on the linger, subtle but noticeable

M- light body with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp tart finish

O- a welcomed addition to the WB gose lineup. As with the others, I could easily go through a 6 pack

L: Poured from a can to a cylinder glass. Had a yellowish color and a very cloudy consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, somewhat long-lasting head. Pretty good lacing.

S: A very nice aroma of citrus fruit, salt, cucumbers, and wheat.

T: Tasted of a little bit of sea salt (not too much), a lot of citrus (the advertised lemon), some cucumber notes, a bit of wheat (mostly in the finish), and some definite tartness. A light and refreshing flavor that's easy to like. The cucumber is more noticeable at first, but the lemon takes over after a while. Sweet and tasty.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a somewhat slick finish. Light-bodied.

O: This is one of those oddly enjoyable beers. Another good one for the summer months.
