Review #1406
Westbrook is one of my top 10 breweries I enjoy, and I try to get anything from there. I want to visit this brewery. I have one more in my cellar, I am going to try later down the road. I want to see the changes with aging. The beer is 54 degrees and served in a tulip glass. The pour of the beer produced a one-fingered head with poor retention. The tan foam is creamy. The head was reduced to a ring around the glass. The color of the beer is SRM 34, dark brown, nearly black. The appearance of the beer is average for this style of beer.
The initial aroma of the beer is nutty, vanilla, bready, chocolate, cereal, and coffee. Nosing further, I smell molasses, toasted malts, roasted malts, a hint of smoke, a touch of soy sauce, figs, raisins, leather, earthy, and burnt sugar.
The flavors in the beer are peanut butter, vanilla, bready, toasted bread crust, chocolate, medium roasted coffee, molasses, toasted malts, roast malts, a hint of Maillard, a subtle soy sauce, figs, raisins, leathers, earthy, burnt sugar, caramel, toffee, and a touch of tobacco.
The mouthfeel of the beer is creamy and chewy.
The body of the beer is full, low carbonation, and full finish.
The beer is enjoyable. The flavors in the beer are vibrant. The pastry stout is sweet but not too sweet. I am curious to see what aging will do. The only issue I have is drinking too much in a sitting will wear out my palate. Good beer nonetheless a must-try for any pastry stout fan.

Fairly nice peanut butter forward imperial stout from a brewery that’s new to me. 12/9/19 date printed on bottle. Pours an oily black opaque color with a thin tan film of head and very minimal scant lingering lacing. Smells strongly of peanut butter, then light milk chocolate, medium roast coffee, toast, malt and some caramel. Tastes similarly, decent balance, a little oily peanut butter in the foreground. Not bad though, well hidden high ABV. Smooth decently mild thin mouthfeel and decent carbonation. Not bad!

22 oz bottle, dated 11/22/19
Pours jet black with thick tan colored head. Good head retention and lacing. Huge roasty peanut butter and milk chocolate aroma, like a Reese's peanut butter cup. Similar taste, fairly sweet but not cloying. Thick, full bodied, slick feel. Overall very tasty, good dessert beer.

A 22oz bottle with a bottled on date of 12.9.2019
L - Dark brown/black with no clarity, 1 finger of head, nice creamy white lace left on top of the black brew. Gorgeous beer
S - MMmmm peanuts and chocolate
T -Chocolate dominates, peanut butter is heavy in the back-end and aftertaste. Great taste. Slow sipper - it packs a punch!
F -Full body and well carbonated.
O - Another great anniversary from Westbrook. Happy 9TH!

Appearance: poured highly viscous motor oil with a beige head that quickly dissolved.
Smell: perfectly executed. Like a PB cup. Very nutty with notes of sweet chocolate.
Taste: bittersweet chocolate throughout. Taste of peanut butter comes through less aggressively than the smell. Very nutty without any artificial flavors. With the darker chocolate, it kinda taste more like an 'grown-up' version of the PB cup. Its sweet but the roast and bitterness really balances it out.
Mouthfeel: thick and full-bodied. Not what I expected for a 10% beer.
Overall: very delicious, not PB overload but enough to appreciate. Again impressive mouthfeel for a 10% beer.
