Style: Witbier

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
This beer, inspired by the flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine, is a twist on the classic Belgian witbier style. Instead of the traditional coriander and orange peel spicing regimen, we add fresh lemongrass, ginger root, and a dash of Sorachi Ace hops. The result is a wonderfully refreshing ale with notes of lemon candy, citrus fruit, and a slight spiciness from the ginger. Best served at 45˚F in a tulip or wine glass.

Lots of coriander up front with some Belgian yeast, clove, peppercorn and bubblegum. It keeps a lemony mid palate before ending with more coriander and spice.

Light in color, full of flavor; this beer was a pleasant surprise when I first tasted it. It combines classic Belgian Wit Beer qualities with hints of ginger and spices to provide a clean, refreshing beer that is easy to drink.

I'll start this off by saying that I am not the biggest Witbier fan. This is not your average witbier though. It's got a solid "asian" spice note on the palate and is quite refreshing. It's not something I would seek out on a normal basis, but every once in a while it's a refreshing sidestep from the usual hop-bombs.

Got this one on tap from Maggie's in orange beach. Poured into a tulip glass. A witbier is one of my favorite styles so I was excited to try a new twist. Nice one finger head with little lacing. Very nice color and smells like lemon candy. Great carbonation and fluffy texture. Awesome yeasty flavors with no alcohol punch at all. Not really getting the coriander but underlying ginger is a nice layer in the flavor. Orange zest bitterness to finish at first then sweet dry zest. Good stuff!

Refreshing! Great idea to add the lemongrass and ginger to a wit. I am not a big fan of the standard orange peel/clove/coriander stuff. This was a nice twist that made the beer interesting while maintaining drinkability.
