Notes / Commercial Description:
A base of pale, Munich, and Carapils malts is just enough to contain the massive hop flavor and aroma packed into this highly drinkable IPA. A blend of four American hop varieties is added four times in the kettle and twice in the fermentor for a complex and layered hop experience. Hazy in color, hoppy in nose and taste. This is a legit IPA that has an above average flavor. Smooth and drinkable with very little kick of the AbV. Get it and drink it!

A: A hazy yellow in color, with a white head.

S: Fairly malty smelling at first. Malt with some straw or hay, and a touch of herbal hops, with a hint of citrus.

T: More malt with straw flavor, and light bitterness with some herbal, and pine flavors with a touch of grapefruit. .

M: Medium in body, carbonation is moderate to high with a little bit of a bitter cling.

O: Overall I was expecting a little bit more. Not bad, but not full of the hop flavor I was looking for.

L: Hazy golden orange with a pillowy creamy white head. Near perfect retention, and sheets of lacing.

S: Tons of sweet orange, ripping orange zest, orange marmalade, caramel, toasted biscuit, a bit of pineapple, papaya, grapefruit pith.

T: Shredded orange flesh and peel, bittersweet and zesty. Light cantaloupe, pineapple and mango floating throughout. Toasty and caramel malt blends with juicy hops for an orange marmalade flavor. Some lingering orange peel bitterness on the finish, with just a touch of pine as well. Finishes lightly bitter and fairly clean, but leans a bit more sweet than dry on the spectrum.

F: Medium-full bodied, smooth and rounded. Moderately carbonated, fairly slick and oily on the tongue.

O: A solid IPA. Great hop flavors. I'd prefer it a bit drier, but still solid overall.

This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy amber to orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light lacing coating the sides of the glass nicely. The smell had a nice spicy yet also a bitter citrus hops overpowering some light malts that maintain their sweetness in the background. The taste was mainly sweet and spicy that lead into the same aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. I would say that this was fairly sessionable with a nice sharp carbonation pounding my tongue into submission. Overall, I say this was a pretty good AIPA well worthy of having again.

Had a pint at the Westbrook Tasting Room yesterday for $5.00.

Beer was served golden with a nice white head that left some lacing behind.

Nose was light on citrus, a bit herbal.

Taste was light citrus over a pale malt base. Finish was grassy and a bit vegetal.

Mouthfeel was very good, light bodied and refreshing.

Overall the makings of a nice beer but the hop profile left that bitter weed taste that was off putting.

Six pack copped from Bottle King in Morris Plains. Copper tawny hue with minimal frothing. Mellow aroma replete with hints of hops and citrus. Similar overall flavor profile.
