Our single-hop rye pale ales are created to showcase the flavor and aroma characteristics of individual hop varieties. The grain recipe is kept the same and only the type of hop is changed from batch to batch. Citra is one of our favorite hop varieties and has some crazy tropical fruit flavors and aromatics – think mango, pineapple, and passionfruit.

I like this beer. It's smooth with a nice character that shows citric tones, but isn't out of control. A pleasant drinker with a smooth feel and an appropriate balance. I like it, and oddly it seems better over time as it warms. This isn't the citra hop explosion a lot of people are wanting to see.

22 ounce bottle -> Westbrook Brewing snifter
A - pours up a beautiful gold with a foamy two finger head. Retention is good and lacing is great.
S - Grassy, floral, pine.
T - sort of malt forward with a hop rye flavor at the finish. A little unbalanced with malt being dominant.
M - average
O - I sort of expected better. This bottle had a little age on it, so I would be willing to try one that is fresher.

A: into a pint, hazy golden straw body with a tower of fat white foam that left messy lace all down the sides
S: like fields of fresh grain and flowers, some citric hints and spice
T: fresh, bright and smooth - lots of great barley and rye action - some tingly spice (from the rye presumably), too; hops of citrus and floral nature, deeper earthy flavors
M: smooth, clean, tingly rye notes, perfectly bittered - extreme drinkability
O: absolutely impressed with Westbrook again - this is a stellar beer - somewhere in-between an APA and an IPA - great blend of Citra and Nelson Sauvin (and Amarillo?) hops - the rye is present but doesn't interfere with the barley malts and hops - a real stunner.

Hazy golden orange beer. Nice color. A half inch white, rocky head melts to a thin layer after a minute or two. Nice lacing.
Massive tropical fruit aroma. Pineapple, orange, mango. A slight hint of spiciness after the beer settles down a little bit in the glass.
A spicy bitterness hits the tongue immediately. Followed by sweet and spicy malt, fruity hops and finally a spicy bitter finish.
Relatively thin bodied for a rye beer. The bitterness, spiciness and carbonation combined is a little rough on the tongue.
