Our single-hop rye pale ales are created to showcase the flavor and aromas of individual hop varieties. The grain recipe is kept the same and only the type of hop is changed from batch to batch. Nelson Sauvin is a hop native to New Zealand that has a bold, fruity flavor similar to Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

Thanks to dogdoc for this one! Reviewed from notes. Poured from bomber into an Upland pint glass.
A: Hazy gold in color with a big fluffy white head that lingers. Moderate visible carbonation.
S: Grapefruit, citrus, pine, tropical fruit hops, and a light malt. It smells really good, although not what I expected from a Nelson-only beer.
T: Follows the nose well. Nice lemony grapefruit citrus, a bit of spice and pine hops, biscuit malt. Bittersweet hang with the hop bitterness tingle.
M: Medium body for an APA (Rye-PA), good carbonation sensation, minimal alcohol presence.
O: This was a very enjoyable brew! The only weird thing - I got minimal to no rye character out of the beer, and the hop profile isn't what I usually pick up from Nelson Sauvin at all. Both of which led me to expect...well, not the beer that I drank. I even double-checked the label to make sure I had the right beer. Regardless, it was quite tasty.
