Pours a warm orange-amber with a quarter inch creamy bright white head. Plenty of delicate lacing on the edges. Nose is fruity, floral and some aromas I can't quite put my finger on.

Mouthfeel is medium, appropriate for the style, with smooth yet prickly effervescence.

Delicious rye spiciness mixed with a nice hop bite from that flavor I still can't quite isolate. Malt takes a backseat but yet provides enough balance to even the hop & rye out. Definitely a unique taste and aroma from the nelson sauvin hops. If you're tired of the same old pine or citrus flavors, this is the IPA for you.

More great brewing from Westbrook!

Thanks to dogdoc for this one! Reviewed from notes. Poured from bomber into an Upland pint glass.

A: Hazy gold in color with a big fluffy white head that lingers. Moderate visible carbonation.

S: Grapefruit, citrus, pine, tropical fruit hops, and a light malt. It smells really good, although not what I expected from a Nelson-only beer.

T: Follows the nose well. Nice lemony grapefruit citrus, a bit of spice and pine hops, biscuit malt. Bittersweet hang with the hop bitterness tingle.

M: Medium body for an APA (Rye-PA), good carbonation sensation, minimal alcohol presence.

O: This was a very enjoyable brew! The only weird thing - I got minimal to no rye character out of the beer, and the hop profile isn't what I usually pick up from Nelson Sauvin at all. Both of which led me to expect...well, not the beer that I drank. I even double-checked the label to make sure I had the right beer. Regardless, it was quite tasty.

A: Clear orange yellow amber with a slight cloud and some particles of various sizes- dark spots and smaller particles suspended within. 3 finger yellowish foamy head.

S: Passion fruit, Hawaiian punch, fruity and tropical. Not getting much more.

T: Passion fruit, passion fruit, passion fruit, comes to the front and tropical punch hides in the background. Bitterness is balanced and not extreme, lingers on the tongue. Dry finnish.

M: Medium somewhat resiny body, medium carbonation.

O: Very enjoyable. Got this at Earthfare in Columbia, SC. Love the bottle, love the taste, unique unto itself. Would go well with spicy food, pinapple slices, bbq pineapple spears.

Had this on tap at Barley's in Greenville, and decided to pick up a bottle to enjoy and review at home. What I really like about this beer is how nicely the characteristics of the single hop come through- loud and bright. That coupled with the fact that the base is a light, spicy rye concoction means that a nice platform is built for the hops, without too many sweet malts in the way to crash the party. Pours a cloudy golden amber with a moderate head, but a constant stream of bubbles rising to the top. Smells fresh and clean with bright citrus and herbal notes. Even better in the taste department, with some nice orange juice, herb, and zest flavors up front, followed by some spicy rye on the finish and perhaps a bit of white pepper. Great, complex flavors here, but clean, bright, and light enough for a hot day, while deep enough for a cold one. This brewery has impressed me with the beers I've had from them, and this is no exception. Definitely recommended.

Served from bottle into a COAST Willi (semi-proper!). Poured a hazy yellow orange with a one finger white head that subsided to a minimal amount slowly. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, tropical fruit, pineapple, citrus, fruit, marijuana, tropical fruit hop, and fruit hop. The flavor was of sweet malt, citrus, tropical fruit, fruit hop, tropical fruit hop, spice, and subtle pineapple. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good brew. Very nicely surprised with what I found on this one. The tropical fruit profile going on here was truly something to behold if I am honest. It was really nicely incorporated throughout each sip with all of the other aspects taking place here. It was also quite easy drinking and rather enjoyable. I could honestly see this one being a great brew to enjoy during the summer out in the sun. Well done on this one Westbrook. Well done. Tick.

Very cloudy pale orange beer with a weak head. Decent lacing though.

Strong grapefruit and citrus aroma. Tropical (mango) fruit. Smells almost like a fruit juice.

Some spicy bitterness upfront. Overtaken by a sweet maltiness. More hops after swallowing, but less fruity than in the aroma.

Thick and creamy compared to most other pale ales. Carbonation is quite delicate, but gives a nice sensation. Beer has a lingering bitter finish.

a - poured a one finger thick eggshell-colored head into a tulip glass that left great lacing and a light sheet throughout. the body was a bright, straw gold color.
s - very aromatic beer. hop aromas of fruit and flowers which made this beer have an almost perfume-like quality to it.
t - fruity and floral as the aromas with a spicy, rye finish.
m - slick and a little thin.
o - really pleasant beer, solid rye pale ale.

Served this APA on tap, at the brewery in a pint glass. Poured a hazy yellow color, produced an average white head, featured excellent lacing and head retention. The aroma consisted of malted grain, pear juice, citric grapefruit, lemon and a hemp tea like quality. Medium in body, this APA had a foundation of sweet malted grain, citric hops, pineapple and and spicy undertones. This is my first exposure to the Nelson Sauvin Hop variety and have to say I was impressed with the range of flavor. Excellent session beer, worth a try!
