Opaque brown beer with a creamy head that stays on as a thin film for a bit and leaves a cascading sheet behind with each sip. The aroma is roasted malt, char, molasses, licorice, coffee and dark chocolate. The taste is sweet with a nice roasty malt and dark chocolate taste with char bitterness and molasses twang. Really chewy and nice stout with good carbonation.

Poured a black body with minimal tan head and lace. Roasted and chocolate malts in the aroma. Sweet, sticky, slightly boozy body with dry roasted malt finish. Good balance and has a little bit of everything.

Pitch black in color and impenetrable to light. There's a fingernail of brown covering half of the rim and a quarter of the top. I smell roasted barley with hints of molasses and just a whiff of smoke. The taste is a blend of roasted barley, molasses, plums, and just enough smoke to make you keep wanting to come back for more sips. The mouth is slightly warm, chewy, and sticky with alcohol.

2016 vintage
~ 6 months from bottling date

Appearance- Pours a black color, opaque, oily body. Half finger thick, medium tan colored head, creamy, dissipates to thin layer. Tons of alcohol legs on glass.

Aroma- Rich roastiness, charred malts, coffee, dark chocolates, cocoa, smokiness. Dark fruits, brown sugar, caramel, sweet chocolates, touches of vanilla.

Taste- Dark chocolates, bittersweet cocoa, roasted malts, coffee, smokiness, leathery earthiness. Molasses sweetness, dark fruits, chocolate, caramel. A bit of earthy hop on the finish.

Feel- Full bodied, rich and creamy, thick and sticky, coats mouth. Lower carbonation.

Overall- Incredible blend of rich roastiness and sweetness. Starts with big robust qualities, but then finishes sweet and smooth.

This sticky sweet concoction tasted of black licorice, chocolate cake batter, vanilla, and charred toffee primarily. While this was sweeter than typically like my stouts, I did enjoy my 10 ounces. Not one I'll look to revisit though.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 3/24/2016. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense dark brown head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, toffee, caramel, molasses, toasted dark bread, raisin, plum, fig, date, licorice, smoke, wood, leather, tobacco, light char, and roast/smokey earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, toffee, caramel, molasses, toasted dark bread, raisin, plum, fig, date, licorice, smoke, wood, leather, tobacco, light char, and roast/smokey earthiness. Moderate roast/char and herbal/spicy hop bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, toffee, caramel, molasses, toasted dark bread, dark fruit, licorice, smoke, wood, leather, char, and roast/smokey earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and no astringent hop/roast flavors after the finish. Light dryness from roast/hop bitterness, increasing though the glass. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/slick, and moderately sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a light warmth lingering after the finish; with no booziness. Overall this is an outstanding imperial stout. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Opaque, near black body with nearly a half inch of dense, beige head. If Evil Twin is involved, the stout will have a beautiful appearance. Roast and chocolate in the nose. Lovely. Terrific flavor. So rich and full. Silky on the palate. This, friends, is a world class imperial stout.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a chalice. Bottled on 3/24/16.

Appearance: Pours midnight black with a moderate amount of bubbles. Slight finger of tan head which settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A rich and roasty dark malt driven aroma with a scent of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Dark roasted barley malt with a scent of chocolate, coffee, smoke, toast, biscuit, and caramel with yeast. Sweet scent of vanilla and molasses. Also some hints of anise, leather, and tobacco. Slight hints of dark fruit. A very good aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a rich and roasty dark malt forward taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Dark roasted barley malt with notes of chocolate, coffee, smoke, toast, caramel, and biscuit along with yeast. Sweet taste of vanilla and molasses. Subtle undertones of dark fruit along with some notes of anise, tobacco, and leather. A really good rich taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Creamy, slick, and smooth. Minimal alcohol heat.

Overall: A very good Imperial Stout. Nice sweet dark malt flavors.

Dated 3/24/16. Poured into a snifter it has a chocolate brown head of and inch and a quarter of thick foam with a pitch black body. Smell of chocolate, coffee, lots of roasted malt, and lots of vanilla. Taste of thick milk chocolate, lots of roasted malt, coffee, fudge, and very sweet caramel. Mouth feel is rich and fudgey, body is the same with a moderate to full carbonation. A thick delicious sweet stout with tons of roasted malt, perfect.

L - Pitch black, no lacing or head, thin body appearance

S - Roasted malts, booze, vanilla

T - Sweet, toasty, vanilla, chocolate, and coffee

F - Thin body, low carbonation

O - Very tasty imperial stout. Get it if you can find it

Served in a snifter from a 22oz bottle.

Appearance: Thick black motor oil color with an extra dark tan head maybe one finger's length off the body. Head drops to nada after one or two sips with zero lacing.

Smell: Light coffee scent with dose of vanilla extract. You can't actually smell the alcohol hints...little light but enticing smell.

Taste: Complex sweet and bitter, molasses and espresso. The coffee undertone is just right and incredible smooth. Somewhere in the middle where it could be a dessert or one of the best after dinner beers you will have.

Mouth: It is a little dry and I am drinking it a little closer to room temperature than your usual extra cold.

Overall: Personally think it's an awesome brew...not sure behind the collaboration naming considering Westbrook makes most of the EvilTwin brews. Not going to question much of the naming but definitely one of those need to grab if you see it on the shelf.

L: poured into Cycle snifter. Formed a small amount of head on pour that very quickly dissipated. Beer is dirty motor oil in color and head was dark brown. A tiny bit of lacing remained around the outer edge of the beer but zero lacing lines while drinking...

S: smokey sweet malt, some chocolate and caramel.

T: strong charred coffee grains, medium bittersweet chocolate, light molasses. Slight bitter finish from the hops. Touch of pepper corn for some hints of spice and heat.

F: medium low effervescence, low boozyness, medium stickyness.

A - pretty nice brown black opaque beer with a mocha head that dissipates quick, but then you get nice alcohol legs
S - smoke, dark roasty malts, burnt marshmallow, dark chocolate, bakers chocolate, almost a bacon scent to it
T - nice big dark malts, dark chocolate, creamy vanilla, smoke, burnt marshmallow, campfire, bakers chocolate, bacon
M - big and thick, alcohol covered, aftertaste is roasty malts, big stout flavors, smoke
O - very nice. First experience with westbrook and I have to say I like them slightly more in combo with evil twin as.opposed to evil twin independently.

Absolutely incredible, smooth, sweet, savory, full of dark chocolate notes with a light haze of espresso suffusing this wonderful concoction. Black as my heart and smoother than the tongue of the serpent in the garden of eden, I strongly recommend this beer.

T: villain sweetness upfront, smoky coca on the back.

O: A soild stout. The sweetness is a great balance on the smoky element to it. The body is full, which I prefer in this style. Grab if you see it.

smell: Roasty vanilla smoke. Very nice smoke on top of a creamy Imp stout nose.
taste: Even better than the nose. Semi-sweet vanilla. cocoa milkshake with roasty, smoky notes.

22 ounce bottle, "date filled" on label is 2/17/16. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head that stayed around for a really long time. There's a decent amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like burnt/charred malt, chocolate, coffee, dark fruit and molasses. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some licorice and earthiness noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and creamy with moderate carbonation. I think it's a good imperial stout, I liked it. However it's pricey at $15.99 a bomber.

Massive pitch black roast of coffee, edged with bitter char, sweetened as if with blackstrap molasses. Sweet up front with ample wet char; dries with more dark bitterness. Stays smooth throughout, with a soft, foamy feel on the lips. Roasty, slightly toasty, full of rich chocolate, sinuous vanilla, and dark roasted espresso. A beautiful Russian imperial stout.

This is really great. It has the usual chocolate-ish, coffee-ish, roasted malt notes you'd expect from a big stout, plus some not so usual hints of licorice. However, it also possesses a kind of leathery, smokey, tobacco thing which really pushed it over the "very good stout" edge and into the black, tenebrous pit of exceptional stouts.

large shared 2012 bottle.
Pours thick and dark with a decent head.

Aroma - excellent and moderately strong. The dark roasted grains are not as pronounced as they are upon tasting, but the alcohol and dark fruit notes are more evident.

Flavor: Rich and moderately complex, with strong notes of very dark roasted malts. Slightly more sweet than bitter until the aftertaste. Hint of licorice. Well hidden ABV!

Overall: one of the best Evil Twin beers I've had.

3 years aging in the bunker

Smokiness and mild char dominate. No alcohol burn. Residual sweetness balances the char.

Very good. Not epic , but another great variant of the 12% stout that spawns Lil B and Biscotti Break. Ages very well. No oxidation detected and could have gone another year, but I doubt it would have improved.

A viscous black pour floating a solid chocolate milk colored head, amazing retention, with thick lacing in my glass from start to finish. Aroma of dark chocolate, tobacco, leather, a bit of smoke in there too. Big flavors of tobacco up front, giving way to bitter dark chocolate, figs, berries and burnt wood - the high ABV is hidden well - especially after 2 years of sitting under my house. The body is big and warming from the high ABV, with a dry mouthfeel and finish. Overall amazing sipper and a solid representation of the style.

Beer #999 for me. Poured from a bomber into an enlarged snifter. This was bottled November 6, 2012 so almost 2 years ago.

Appearance: Pours thick and black and leaves a finger of brown head that fades relatively quickly to a brown rim around the glass. (4.5)

Smell: Roasted malts, dark chocolate, licorice, char, some must, hint of figs and plums. (4.25)

Taste: Big roasted malts, dark/milk chocolate, licorice, charred malts, some smoke. Big charry, slightly ashy finish. (4)

Mouth-feel: Low carbonation (but definitely present) with a medium to thick, creamy body. Nice feel. (4.5)

Overall: Big roasty flavors and aromas along with a bit of ashyness which is interesting. Nice full body and the alcohol is masked well at 12%. (4)
