Thomas is the third installment in our "Bearded Farmer" series of saisons. In keeping with the farmhouse brewing tradition, each successive beer is brewed a little (or a lot) differently than the ones before it. A - Pours an orangeish pale straw color with an eggshell two finger head. Decent lacing.

S - Funky, yeasty, bready, orange peel and slight cloves.

T - Very bready with straw up front. The pilsner malts really shine through. Light sweetness and citrusy.

M - Light bodied, medium carbed with a wet finish.

O - It's interesting... Definitely not the regular profile of a saison I would think of. But, the pilsner malts probably turn off a few people.

Bottle from Westmeister. Thanks much.

A: Pillowing off-white head and a very cloudy dull orange color. Decent lacing.

N: Very heavy funk. Lemon, tangerine, dirt, pine, banana, and esters. Clove. Slight malt sweetness and a touch of band-aid.

T: Sour, bitter and somewhat biting/astringent. Lots of hops here and some citrus - like a DIPA/Saison cross-breed.

M: Sharp on the palate with a medium mouthfeel. Some chalkiness and a touch of alcohol.

O: It's an odd and duck and I'm not sure how much I'm really enjoying it. I vacillate a bit there, really. The hybridization comes at you from all angles, but it feels like it strays a bit too much.

Bottle enjoyed at The Festival in Portland.

Decent creamy head, light lacing, hazy straw golden color.

Nose light funk, saison earthy grassy straw, hint lemon, faint saison spices and farmhouse funk.

Taste more earthy saison funk, strong bitter earthy spicy hop that overpowers to much, slightly astringent, most of the nice saison is lost, light fruity apple like esters, alcohol is a bit too much as well I think. Nice farmhouse funk too but would like it to show through the hops a bit more.

Mouth med bod, light warming booze, nice carb.

Westbrook isn't easy to get up here in CT so was quite excited to try this beer
Appearance/Pour nice with a 3 inch white head and big rolling bubbles.. extreme carbonation
Smell is earthy, peppery, pine
Mouthfeel rolling bubbles limited complexity
Overall surprised that with 3 hop types it didn't have much depth or overall punch
