Cool enough bar, in the heart of OTR. Plenty of local beer on tap. As more breweries pop up in this part of town, the less a place like this appeals to me. It’s great if you aren’t overly picky about selection.

what a great place...been here now 3 times in the past 4 years, and seen lots of familiar places behind the bar - which is always a good sign. Nice authentic character to the bar, and super clean draft lines and glassware - just a great tavern to knock back a few kick-ass beers.

I love this bar! More for the spirits and cocktails than the beer, though… 13 taps including Blank Slate Lesser, Flower Power, Jackie O’s Morning Clock, Kentucky Bourbon and Barleywine, Stone Matt’s, Southern Tier EuroTrash and more. Most beers are five or six dollars and come in a sixteen-ounce pour.

This is a great bar when the weather is nice out. Doors and windows are open and you can enjoy the gentrified hustle and ghetto bustle of Over-the-Rhine while sipping on a beer. They also have a couple of tables outside on the street.

Prices are fair and the selection of spirits is great. They have Fernet Branca and Mezcal to go with my beer so I'm happy.

Second time here, but first in over a year.

Parking can be tricky, but there are pay lots near by and plenty of street parking.

Shotgun bar on the corner in a seemingly very "hip" neighborhood. Low light, dark wood accents, a large cushion wall with seating, and the back wall seems to be of fine wallpaper. The flooring is neat small circular tiles, plain ceiling, and plenty of windows. The bar is jewel though - huge dark wooden backsplash with tiles of colored glass and a large mirror - a very impressive piece.

Beer selection is great. The best of tonight is Stone's Enjoy By 9/13/13, but they did have Gumballhead on tap, but ran out before I got here. A few nice local brews, some "standards", and a lot of nice beers on deck.

I think Lackman's is the best beer bar in town and would certainly recommend anyone here. Their prices are a bit high though. As for other Cincinnati beer bar comparisons, I only have one - I've been to Dutches before but only to bottle shop (primarily because I couldn't find a seat otherwise, and I wasn't floored with their tap list so I left).

Good small local bar vibe. Relaxed trendy atmosphere. Great beer selection. I had a KBS for the first (and still only) time here. I think there was a founder tap take over when I was there. Had about a half a dozen from founders some locals and other great beers.

(Visited 07/2011): The Lackman is located on Vine and 13th street on the north side of downtown. Street parking looks to be the only option in the immediate vicinity.

The bar is located in the Lackman building which is named for a brewery located in Cincinnati in the early 1900s. The interior is cleanly laid out with the bar wrapping around on the left side. Red padded bar stools and an arched mirror adorn the bar itself. The rest of the space is devoted to

The Lackman has 14 beers on tap, including local options like Rivertown and Christian Moerlein. Other craft brewers like Stone, Bells and Rogue are available too. As for bottles there are over 50. Aside from the domestic macros, they serve regional beers like Kentucky Brewing, BBC and Christian Moerlein. Many common domestic microbreweries are represented too. As for imports they have a few such as Petrus, Chimay and the like. Lastly they have a section of the beer menu devoted to "Big Beers" like Stone VE, The Bruery Mischief, and DFH Sah' Tea.

Service on an early afternoon was good. The bartenders were friendly and attentive while we were there. Not beer or service related per se but they make a damn good "Presbyterian" drink here too.

We did not have any food on our visit.

Overall this is a great spot to check out in the downtown Cincy area.

Stopped in on a Friday evening around 7:30 during the city-wide mid point music festival. Lots of music goers at the bar and surrounding streets which made for a festive and safe experience. I say safe becau the Lackman is in the gateway district in the over the Rhine neighborhood of downtown Cincinnati - an area in transition which makes for all the better reason to support them.

The bar is in a well refurbished historic space on the corner. It was 60 out during my visit and the big windows were open giving the place an airy feel. There's a very small two table patio out front facing vine street. A couple of recently opened foodie joints nearby on vine.

I had a southern tier pumking ($4) and a founders breakfast stout ($6). Both were served in a 10 oz sniffer with a half inch or less head. I moved around the bar a couple of times and the service was very proactive asking if I was ok and putting pretzels and water in front of me without asking.

Other taps included
Dogfish Head black and red
Stone smoked porter
Heavy seas davey jones lager
Dark horse crooked tree ipa
Victory prima pils
Lefthand saw tooth
Guineas, Stella, and moerlein otr

Also had a solid bottle selection with diversity to accommodate any beer drinker.

My new favorite downtown beer bar.

A great new hot spot downtown. Their is a lot going on in that growing part of VIne Street and I think the Lackman is here to stay. Good selection and alwasy rotating taps. They are trying to do different beer events atleast once a month. In the past couple of months they had a Dogfish event with Aprihop pushed through a Randal of fresh hops and dried appricots, bells event with expedtion stout and Hopslam, plus many other great beers! Last time I was there they had a Firkin of Dubel Loose Cannon.
Nice atmosphere, great beer selection, friendly service, plus a good juke box equals a great place to hang out in my mind!

This place is solid; it's arguably the best beer bar downtown (in my opinion), especially given their good - and regularly rotating - draft selection. Atmosphere is good, with quality brews and liquors, and friendly service. The selection is good - compared to it's spatial competition. Food isn't available, but they're cool with you bringing in food during happy hour (not when it's packed), and they've got the best pretzels in the city, free of charge. Overall, one of my favorites, especially for downtown.

Went here on a Saturday Night and had a really good time. The bar is located on vine street in the heart of the nati. Right at the start of over the Rhine where lots of little bars and restaurants are starting to pop up. The inside of the bar is filled with young professionals in fancy shirts and business casual attire. However everyone was friendly and I did not feel out of place in my sneakers T-shirt and jeans. Real mellow place with a nice wall hugging bench on one entire side of the building. On the other side is the bar with roughly 20-23 seats. The place was crazy busy last night but the service was really great. All I had to do to get a drink was make my way to the bar and I was immediately helped. One Guy floated around the restaurant picking up glasses and cleaning up which kept you feeling nice and not cluttered. Now for the best part the selection:
Nugget nectar
Expedition stout
Founders red rye
21st amendment monks blood
Brother theolonius (sp?)
Guinness of course
Morlein OTR (makes sense since the place is in OTR)
Boulder mojo rising
A few others I can't remember but no bmc!
Also had a really good bottle selection that was really fairly priced. One of the best spots for good draft beer in the tri-state area. This place even might be better then the dilly deli just for the fact that the people are nicer and not as uppity. If you ever come to Cincinnati you wouldn't be a real BA if you didn't stop in here.

I went here when Mitch Steele, the head brewmaster at Stone, was here. I don't think they normally have food, but they had beer cheese with spiced pretzels and pulled pork sandwiches for the event from an outside catering company; both dishes were made with Stone beers. The beer cheese and pretzels were great.

I didn't try any bottled beers, but the taps that night were Arrogant bastard, '06 Stone IRS, Stone/Fat Heads collaboration Blacken Your Rye, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, Fireside Chat, Moerlein OTR, something from Hofbrau Haus, Rivertown Winter Ale, Rogue XS Old Crustacean, Miller High Life, GI's Pepe Nero, Old Rasputin, and Guinness.

They also have a cask of Stone's Coriander Pale Ale, which was decent.

It's a pretty small place and they were crazy packed with local BAs that night. I'd be interested to go back and see what a normal (Thursday) night is like.

I visited this place twice when I was home over the Christmas holiday. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It's a small bar, long more than wide, but the decor and relaxed atmosphere was really nice to be in. Everyone there seemed to be pretty chill and I was able to have a conversation without screaming as loud as I could as I enjoyed my beer.

The beer selection was probably one of the best I've seen in Cincinnati. Some selections included Founders Breakfast Stout, Goose Island Sophie, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, Left Hand Milk Stout, a couple 21st Amendment beers, and a few 750ml bottle selections. I'm not always impressed to see a lot of them, but having just a few 750ml choices was nice. It was also nice to see some local selections from Rivertown and Moerlein.

I definitely plan on going back there when I come in town. I highly recommend that you check it out if you are a fan of beer or just want to chill in a comfortable atmosphere.

I went to the Lackman recently because a friend advised me they had Sophie on tap which I was looking forward to. The atmosphere was pretty laid back its a relatively small bar at around 900 square feet which gives it a nice intimate feel. The building has a lot of character. One of my favorite things about this play was the seating a cushioned bench that spread the wall with high-top round tables, that were actually really comfortable. The tap selection was pretty good as well. No Sophie that night unfortunately so I settled with a double arrogant bastard and Hennepin instead. The service was decent took a little longer to get the drinks then normal. I have heard there bottle selection is good but I usually just get draught at bars , but i saw a Pranqster which is a personal favorite. Overalla a great new little bar in OTR to give a go I will be back soon.
